NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS

Nvidia GeForce 9800M GTS - это графический адаптер для ноутбуков, построен на архитектуре G94 с 64 шейдерами. Чип основан на 65-нанометровой технологии (512 Мб), а позже на 55-нанометровой (1024 МБ). Поэтому, потребление остается таким же (75 ватт) у обеих версий.

Из-за дополнительный шейдеров и высокой тактовой частоте, 9800M GTS заметно быстрее, чем 9700M GTS. Поэтому все игры DirectX 10 2008 года должны воспроизводиться в качестве от средней до высокой детализации. Как и другие карты с возможностью DirectX 10, GeForce 9800M GTS передает 3D-изображение с помощью "Unifield shaders". Шейдеры имеют более высокую частоту (1500 МГц). Не существует понятий "пиксельный шейдер" или"вершинный шейдер". Вместо этого применяеются 64 так называемых потоковых процессора, благодаря которым и происходит обработка графики.

Одним из преимуществ серии GeForce 9000 это встроенный видео-процессор PureVideo HD. Он берет на себя аппаратное раскодирование видео в формате H.264, VC-1, MPEG2 и WMV9 в высоком разрешении. Благодаря этому снижается нагрузка на центральный процессор.

Технология HybridPower позволяет пользователю по желанию переключать в ноутбуке активную видеокарту с дискретной 9800M GT на встроенную в чипсет Nvidia. Таким образом дискретная видеокарта может быть отключена, если в ней нет необходимости в данный момент (например во время офисной работы или серфига в Сети). Такой подход может сэкономить энергию и продлить время работы ноутубка от аккумулятора. Режим HybridPower можно переключить в операционной системе Windows Vista в ручном режиме, но по заверениям компании Nvidia, в будующем эту функцю будет выполнять драйвер видеокарты автоматически.

GeForceBoost не поддерживается с этой картой, так как нет смысла в комбинировании встроенного графического процессора с видео картой. По сравнению с графическими картами Desktop, производительность 9800M GTS немного медленее, чем GeForce 8800 GS.
