Intel Core i5-8259U

Intel Core i5-8259U - это мобильный четырехъядерный процессор семейства Coffee Lake, анонсированный в апреле 2018. В сравнении с предшественником (Core i5-7267U), появились два дополнительных ядра и поддержка Hyperthreading. Базовая частота составляет 2.3 ГГц, а максимальная 3.8 ГГц. В чипе также имеется встроенная графика Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 со 128 МБ eDRAM памяти, двухканальный контроллер ОЗУ, аппаратные декодеры VP9 и H.265.

Чип по-прежнему производится по 14-нм техпроцессу. Архитектура та же, что и в предыдущем поколении, потому производительность на ватт не изменилась. Улучшена была только технология Speed Shift, позволяющая повышать частоту и напряжение более агрессивно. За счет более высокого TDP i5-8259U должен быть производительнее i7-8550U.

Встроенная Intel Iris Plus 655 принадлежит к поколению GT3e и содержит 48 исполнительных блоков, а работает на частоте 300 - 1050 МГц. По производительности сравнима с Nvidia GT940MX и GT930M за счет быстрого eDRAM кэша. Тем не менее, в сравнении с Iris Plus 650 улучшения минимальны, современные игры можно запустить только на минимальных настройках в низком разрешении. 

TDP достаточно высокий в сравнении со стандартными 15-Вт чипами, но позволяет лучше утилизировать имеющийся потенциал
