The ZenBook 14 is an excellent mainstream notebook from ASUS with lots to like and little to fault. The overall design is outstanding, especially when you consider it is more compact than most 13-inch notebooks and it even meets the MIL-STD-810 standards for ruggedness. It also has a ton of useful and thoughtful features too, such as the ErgoLift hinge, the NumberPad, and full-size USB-A and HDMI ports. General performance was good too and the battery life is decent for a system with its specifications. And then there’s its attractive price. The only things that count against it are the lackluster graphics performance, lack of Thunderbolt 3 support, and the narrow trackpad. All things considered, it’s one of the best bang for buck notebooks you can buy, thus earning our Best Value seal of approval.

The ASUS ZenBook 14 is one of those laptops you pick if you want something for productivity yet portable and attractive at the same time. It has a nice display with slim bezels, premium chassis, solid speakers, and packs decent performance and respectable battery life. As for the virtual NumPad, it’s something we rarely used, but it’s cool and nice to have around.

Протестированная модель точно не затеряется в «толпе». Очеловечивая ASUS ZenBook 14 UX433FN, можно сказать, что у него есть харизма. Во-первых, устройство оказалось сверхкомпактным. Мы уже выяснили, что этот ультрабук, оснащенный 14-дюймовым дисплеем, оказывается меньше некоторых «тринашек». Во-вторых, эта самая компактность пошла устройству не во вред. В частности, у меня нет вопросов к качеству сборки лэптопа, да и его функциональность выполнена на 5 с плюсом. За надежность работы ноутбука я тоже не волнуюсь. В-третьих, очень радует высокая автономность устройства. Пожалуй, самых привередливых может расстроить только среднее качество калибровки дисплея. В остальном же ZenBook 14 UX433FN — яркий и узнаваемый представитель ультрабуков класса «Премиум».

Если бы у Asus ZenBook 14 UX434F не было фирменной особенности в виде ScreenPad 2.0, то его было бы сложно выделить из массы похожих ноутбуков. Он компактный, качественно выполненный, с четким и приятным глазу экраном, быстрым для большинства задач процессором, не просаживающимся критически при отключении от электросети, и какой-никакой дискретной видеокартой. Сюда же плюсом хорошая автономность и низкий шум в нересурсоемких задачах. Но, признаться, такой набор достоинств есть у большинства ультрабуков этого класса, включая продукты самой компании Asus.

В этом году мы протестировали несколько ультрабуков ASUS: ZenBook 14 UX433FN, ZenBook 15 UX533FD и ZenBook S13 UX392FA. Плохих устройств среди них нет, и новинка — не исключение. Как и все перечисленные ультрабуки, рассмотренная в этой статье модель обладает узнаваемыми чертами и фирменными особенностями устройств тайваньской компании. У меня нет претензий к качеству сборки лэптопа и к его функциональности. Тестирование показало, что ZenBook 14 UX434FL оснащен эффективной системой охлаждения, а также качественными клавиатурой, экраном и корпусом. Этот ультрабук долго работает от аккумулятора, а его производительность оказывается не хуже, чем у других моделей, собранных на той же платформе. В общем, у ASUS получился очередной хороший спутник по жизни: легкий, компактный и выносливый.

ASUS ZenBook 14 UX434F - отличный рабочий ноутбук для дома и офиса, с более чем достаточной для такого режима работы производительностью и высокой автономностью. Брать его с собой в поездки тоже будет удобно - и из-за уже упомянутой автономности, и ещё компактности. Здесь я бы также отметил очень маленький блок питания, который похож на таковой у макбуков - адаптер питания вставляется непосредственно в розетку и от него уже тянется тонкий кабель в ноутбук.

The unfortunate part is that you can’t really use the sweet screen for much due to the limited 6GB of RAM available. It is quite a good laptop and might have been able to take the all-rounder tag if it wasn’t for a few quirks. If you are in the market for a thin and light laptop, the Asus ZenBook 14 UM431 is quite a good option. However, if gaming is a requirement, I would recommend that you try and find another option, with better cooling capabilities and a more airy design.

Given that the new AMD Ryzen-powered Asus ZenBook 14 is entering the market at Rs 59,990 when the refreshed ZenBook 14 with an Intel 8th Gen Core i5 CPU and ScreenPad 2.0 is selling on Amazon.in for Rs 75,990, I expected some visible compromises in screen quality, perhaps audio, and overall performance. But to my pleasant surprise, that is not the case with the new Asus entrant. Except for a few design niggles here or there (small keys and loose touchpad, for example), the new Asus ZenBook 14 is perfect all around.

Это особенно заметно при сравнении с аналогичными моделями линейки ZenBook, построенными на платформе Intel, с мобильными процессорами Core 11-го поколения. Ryzen 7 4700U обеспечивает гораздо большую производительность в играх благодаря RX Vega 7, а также опережает конкурентов по многоядерной производительности. При этом чип более экономичен, что отражается также и на выросшей автономности модели ZenBook UM421IA при равноценных ёмкостях батарей. Ко всему этому, Ryzen 7 4700U в тонком корпусе оказывается ещё и заметно тише, хотя и несколько горячее. Явно проигрывает только производительность SSD – в моделях на платформе Intel накопители работают ощутимо быстрее.

I showed this laptop to a friend who uses a MacBook Pro, and he too gave it a serious thought. While Windows is a major factor when considering something other than a MacBook, it is time we admit that Windows machines are getting pretty good too. Spec for spec, feature for feature, ASUS is giving you a touchscreen laptop with a 3k OLED display, really good speakers, a solid battery life, and a durable chassis. But then as I said in the headline, it is skipping the basics. It still ships with a clunky charger and no 360-degree mode. The bottom line is if you’re someone who frequently travels, or needs a light and powerful laptop, the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED is a good choice. It has great specs and a good display for work and multimedia consumption. You’ll just have to live with the occasional glare under direct sunlight, and maybe use a lighter third-party charger.

The last time I was this excited about a laptop, it was when ASUS launched the first iteration of the ROG Zephyrus G14, which is also when AMD beat Intel at its own game with the Ryzen 9 4900HS. Fast forward to today, and it’s clear Intel is intent on coming back with a vengeance. Granted, I really wish at least one of the USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports were located on the left side, and that ASUS didn’t skimp on Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 but hey, Wi-Fi 6E is still plenty fast. From the powerhouse Meteor Lake CPU, to the laptop’s sleek lightweight chassis, right down to the Macbook-esque battery endurance, and with a starting SRP of RM4,499. The ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED is a laptop I can wholeheartedly recommend to those in the market for a long-lasting thin and light laptop with pros that truly outweigh the cons.

See the hardware difference between the base variant and the top variant is quite significant - for example, you may not get the same battery life in the base variant because that laptop uses an older Core i5 processor. But this one - the top variant of the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED - is in my opinion one of the best, like totally totally best, work laptops you can buy. It is fast, it looks great, its battery life is phenomenal, its screen is one of the best I have seen, and its keyboard and trackpad are nifty. It is an all-rounder, and the fact that it weighs just 1.3 kgs makes it all the more appealing. In other words, if you are looking for a premium work or college laptop, or just a laptop that you can carry with you everywhere, the Zenbook 14 OLED perfectly fits the bill. Sure, it is expensive but then all good things in one way or another are.

There’s also the higher-end configuration with Core Ultra 7 155H + 32GB RAM + 1TB SSD, but that one in my opinion is slightly worse off in terms of value proposition. For the price of the Core Ultra 5 model, you’re getting a lot of laptop out of the ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED (UX3405) – this laptop basically ticked every box any typical user would demand out of their machine, and for someone as picky as myself, I could hardly find any significant flaw in the entire package. If I didn’t have a particular need for a firepower-heavy laptop today, this would be my next laptop.

The Asus Zenbook 14 OLED is available now in Canada through the Asus e-store or Best Buy. It’s worth noting that the Core Ultra 7 variant is exclusive to the latter.

Overall, the ZenBook 14 OLED is a cracking laptop, then. Performance is solid, battery life is good, it has a great screen and ergonomics and build quality is top notch. With prices starting at £1,099, it’s strong competition for the likes of the 13.6in and 15in MacBook Air. As a showcase for Intel’s latest CPU, however, I’d have to say the jury’s out right now. Battery life is good for a Windows machine in this class but it still lags behind the likes of Apple’s M3 MacBook Pro and there isn’t much, if any, of a performance bump over the previous generation of Intel processors.

It comfortably tops similar devices from the previous generation, like the Dell XPS 13 Plus (2023), and even larger ones, like the Asus Zenbook 15 OLED and LG Gram SuperSlim. In fact, with its fantastic OLED screen and comfortable ergonomics, the Asus could work as a creator’s laptop or a business machine, or just about anything else bar a full-blooded gaming PC. Here the new Arc iGPU is a huge improvement on Intel’s earlier integrated graphics tech – and serious competition for AMD’s fastest APUs in the likes of the Acer Swift Edge 16 – but still not in the same league as dedicated hardware. If you want more gaming capabilities, you’ll need to look for something bigger, heavier and faster, but this is a brilliant and versatile ultraportable for everyone else.

Asus:

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности справятся со многими играми, если не гнаться за максимальным разрешением и качеством картинки. Сравнительно умеренное энергопотребление таких GPU обеспечит увеличение времени автономной работы.

NVIDIA GeForce MX150: Мобильная видеокарта на архитектуре Pascal, использует чип GP108, является ноутбучной версией GeForce GT 1030. Содержит 384 шейдера и 2 ГБ видеопамяти GDDR5 с 64-битной шиной. Чип производится по 14 нм техпроцессу.

Intel UHD Graphics 620: Встраиваемый в центральные процессоры Intel Kaby Lake Refresh графический процессор (GT2, 24 вычислительных ядра). Встраивается в 15-ваттовые процессоры. Очень схож с графикой из прошлого поколения процессоров, Kaby Lake, по имени HD Graphics 620.

NVIDIA GeForce MX250: Наследница MX150, все еще основана на чипе Pascal GP108, но обладает повышенными частотами

AMD Vega 8: Встроенная видеокарта, встречается в мобильных процессорах AMD Ryzen и содержит 8 вычислительных блоков

AMD Vega 10: Встроенная видеокарта, встречается в APU Ryzen, основана на архитектуре Vega и содержит 10 исполнительных блоков

AMD Vega 7: Видеопроцессор, встроенный в некоторые мобильные процессоры Ryzen 4000. Имеет 448 ядер в 7 кластерах. Работает на частоте до 1600 МГц.

AMD Vega 8: Встроенная графика в процессорах AMD Ryzen, содержит 8 вычислительных блоков (512 шейдеров)

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности способны на многое и подойдут для большинства игр, иногда даже при максимальных настройках и разрешениях. Чаще всего GPU "просто верхнего" уровня производительности расходуют заметно меньше энергии, чем самые-самые топовые и дорогие модели.
