Apple A7

Apple A7

Apple A7 - мощный ARM-чип, дебютировавший в сентябре 2013 года в качестве процессора смартфона iPhone 5S, а позже использованного и в планшете iPad Air. Он является одним из первых ARM-чипов с поддержкой 64-битного набора инструкций ARMv8. Оба ядра работают на частоте в 1.3 ГГц (в iPad Air: 1.4 ГГц) и основана на принадлежащей Apple архитектуре Cyclone. Также чип оснащен видеоадаптером PowerVR G6430 (Rogue) и контроллером памяти LPDDR3 (две 32-битных шины).

Архитектура

Архитектура Cyclone - преемница архитектуры Swift, использовавшейся в чипах Apple предыдущего поколения (Apple A6 в смартфоне iPhone 5 и Apple A6X в планшете iPad 4). Архитектура, скорее всего, основана на внеочередном исполнении, но отличается значительными улучшениями: помимо нового набора инструкций ARMv8, чип поддерживает множество оптимизаций для криптографических операций (AES, SHA), расширенные регистры и улучшенный набор инструкций SIMD. В сочетании с увеличенным объемом L1-кэша, все это привело к 50-процентному приросту производительности на такт, а при работе с 64-битными приложениями прирост еще более значительный.

Производительность

Несмотря на низкую тактовую частоту и наличие всего двух процессорных ядер, Apple A7 способен потягаться с мощнейщими ARM-конкурентами вроде Qualcomm Snapdragon 800. В приложениях же с плохо продуманной многопоточностью - например, бенчмарках браузеров - A7 вообще обгоняет всех ARM-конкурентов без исключения и оказывается на одной строчке с AMD A4-5000 и Intel Atom Z3770.

Видеоадаптер

Чип включает видеоадаптер PowerVR G6430 (Series 6, "Rogue"), состоящий из 4 модулей. G6430 более чем вдвое мощнее, чем SGX543MP3 в чипе Apple A6 и поддерживает OpenGL ES 3.0. Точная рабочая частота пока что не известна, но скорее всего она составляет около 400 МГц, что приведет к производительности свыше 100 гигафлопс. В планшете iPad Air частота, должно быть, несколько повышена и составляет примерно 450 МГц. Производительность G6430 на уровне с Adreno 330 в чипе Snapdragon 800, так что этот видеоадаптер - один из лучших в своем классе, и даже самые требовательные на данный момент (2013 г.) игры для iOS будут работать плавно.

Энергопотребление

Смартфон Apple iPhone 5S, оснащенный этим чипом, отличается достаточно продолжительным временем работы от аккумулятора, несмотря на относительно малую емкость последнего. A7 производится на заводах компании Samsung на 28-нм техпроцессе с использованием технологии HKMG (High-K Metal Gate), и его расчетное энергопотребление составляет не более 2-3 Вт. Правда, в планшете iPad Air его энергопотребление должно быть чуть выше ввиду повышенной тактовой частоты.
