The $1,899 asking price of the Aero 15 seems relatively steep when you consider just the hardware. The Acer Predator Helios 300 as we tested it was $800 less, yet had the same processor, GPU, amount of RAM, and screen resolution as our Aero 15. From a purely price-to-performance perspective, the Aero 15 isn’t all that impressive. But properly framed in the context of its design, overall quality, long battery life, and extras like the RGB-backlit keyboard, it’s hard to argue that the value proposition isn’t there. It’s well worth a first, second, and third look.

All in the all this baby is hot. My best friend/housemate is currently in the market for a new notebook and I imagine this would be the ideal one for her. It is small and slim enough for her to take to work and travel with while it has enough stuff under the hood to allow her to game. She also digs the look of it. It really is a sexy little piece of hardware. However, all that power does come with a price. You’re looking at a starting cost of about R30 000 for this baby (which, in all honesty, is what you’re paying for the equivalent MacBook and that doesn’t let you game).

Gigabyte’s latest laptop is a rare notebook that doesn’t do much wrong. Its components have ample power for gaming and for its intended work tasks, and the calibrated screen offers more quality than most of its rivals. It’s ergonomically sound, relatively slim and light, and even has decent battery life. It’s a little expensive, but it’s a top-quality option for work and play.

With powerful internals and a gorgeous exterior the Gigabyte Aero 15W V8 won't look out of place in the work place or a LAN party. While we lament the lack of an HDD we recognise it would have added weight to a slim machine. The heat we feel through the keyboard becomes uncomfortable and that also loses this notebook some points. The display is the real star here and it alone earns the 15W V8 a recommendation from us.

Gigabyte has done some work optimising the battery life, allowing it to get over 7 hours of movie playback when in Performance mode. And while the unit is on the heavy side at a little over 2kg, for something with this much power and battery life, it’s actually exceptionally lightweight. The updated model does sacrifice the 3,000/1,500MB/S NVMe SSD from last year’s model for a slower 500MB/s SATA SSD, but this is the device’s only real step backwards — and it’s a largely inconsequential one.

We hate to wrap up a review with a piece of wishy washy vagueness but right now we are waiting to see what Nvidia does next. Our natural inclination is to wait and see how Aero 15-X9 develops over the next few months as it does not currently offer a compelling reason to upgrade a 2018 laptop. That's not Gigabyte's fault, though. It took the components it had and made a well-designed, fast and lightweight laptop that can grind through the most challenging games and content-creation chores. The company made it even better with tweaks to the touchpad and elsewhere, and the only shortcoming in this particular model (or any 4K laptop) is the battery life. It's also costly, but again, the price should hold up to rivals. Overall, the Aero 15 Y9 is an easy laptop to recommend.

Even by the standards of laptop refreshes, this is a pretty minor revision. There are plenty of other content creation laptops out there that run the same 9th-Gen Intel Core processors or Nvidia RTX graphics. There aren’t that many out there with OLED screens. If having that OLED screen actually matters to you, you’ll probably want to put some serious consideration into whether it’s worth paying the premium. What you’re getting here is good but, at the same time, most of the differences and evolution that the Aero 15 OLED offers are only skin deep.

Gigabyte improved on the overall performance, thermals, and noise levels from the previous generation, which now add up to its existing strong suits, such as the sturdy build quality, the complete IO and inputs, the large battery and the multitude of available configurations. I'm just not sold on the OLED screen choice though, it looks awesome, but it's an expensive option and I'm warry of the technology's long term reliability in a laptop implementation, with all the static content that it has to display.

It is still the same gaming laptop with a stunning 4K edge-to-edge display, same keyboard, and trackpad and even chassis. That said however, it also retains the same kinks as its predecessor; the fans are still extremely noisy at maximum speed and the webcam is still located awkwardly at the bottom bezel. I thought it is a missed opportunity by Gigabyte to do some refinements to the Aero 15 OLED series with the XB, even if they are minor ones, and possibly turning it from a good gaming laptop to a ‘great’ one.

The Gigabyte Aero 15 is a laptop aimed at designers and creative professionals. But when I first saw the thing, I didn’t believe that. It looks nothing like any laptop that comes to mind when I think of “creators” (the slim and sleek MacBook Pros, XPS 15s, Surface Books, and Zenbooks of the world). The Aero is a beast. It’s 15.6 inches wide and 4.4 pounds. It has a bright LED logo on its lid, large visible vents on the back and bottom, and a colorful RGB keyboard that will turn heads from across the office. This is a gaming laptop, I thought on my first day using it. Designers won’t want this.

Ноутбук Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED XC не произвел на нас сногсшибательного впечатления, но понравился и внешне, и своими возможностями. У него симпатичный металлический корпус, скорее тяжелый и толстый, чем наоборот, но, в общем, для модели, не ориентированной на постоянное таскание с собой, параметры приемлемые. Производительность в «процессорных» тестах у него очень высокая, видеокарта тоже почти топовая, так что он готов с успехом решать любые задачи. Можно увеличить объем памяти (до 64 ГБ) и установить второй SSD в дополнение к быстрому штатному NVMe SSD 1 ТБ, так что и возможности расширения отличные. Ноутбук достаточно эффективно охлаждается, однако шум в максимальных режимах ожидаемо оказывается очень высоким. Серьезное достоинство для тех, кому это нужно — яркий AMOLED-экран с расширенным цветовым охватом. Длительность автономной работы не впечатляет, но ее нельзя назвать провальной. Из приятных мелочей отметим использование проводного сетевого контроллера с поддержкой скорости 2,5 Гбит/с.

AERO 15 has no reservations about offering reliable 3D performance in the latest triple-a gaming titles nor does it shy away from contributing to improve content creation workflows. Though, we would have liked to see 1080p as the native resolution – 4K stretches things too far (even for the mighty RTX 3080) when gamers want to max out on the detail preset. The display on our AERO 15 OLED YD is fantastic and must be seen to really appreciate its true glory. The Samsung AMOLED display provides excellent brightness, higher contrast ratio and supports a higher colour gamut. If screen quality is a top priority then this laptop is an obvious choice.

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности способны на многое и подойдут для большинства игр, иногда даже при максимальных настройках и разрешениях. Чаще всего GPU "просто верхнего" уровня производительности расходуют заметно меньше энергии, чем самые-самые топовые и дорогие модели.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Mobile: Графический процессор с 1280 ядрами Pascal (GP106) и видеопамятью GDDR5.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Max-Q: Энергоэффективная мобильная видеокарта высокого класса, основанная на том же чипе GP104, что о полноценная GTX 1070.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q: Мобильная видеокарта высокого уровня, основана на чипе TU106, содержит 2304 шейдерных блока и 8 ГБ видеопамяти GDDR6. Обладает пониженными частотами в сравнении с настольной версией.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Mobile: Дискретная видеокарта среднего сегмента быстродействия, ориентированная на ноутбуки. Известна пока только кодовым именем N18E-G0. Пришла на смену моделям 1050 Ti или 1050.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile: Мобильная видеокарта средне-высокого уровня на архитектуре Turing с поддержкой трассировки лучей, обладает 1920 шейдерными блоками. В сравнении с настольной версией имеет пониженные частоты ядра.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q: Высококлассная видеокарта для ноутбуков. Использует видеопроцессор TU104, в котором активно 2560 ядер. По сравнению с мобильной RTX 2070 Super (обычной, не Max-Q версией) работает на сниженных частотах и потребляет меньше энергии. i7-7700HQ: Четырехъядерный мобильный процессор из семейства Kaby Lake. Кроме процессорных ядер с поддержкой Hyperthreading имеет также встроенную видеокарту HD Graphics 630. Производится по 14 нм техпроцессу.
Intel Coffee Lake:
i7-8750H: Новый процессор семейства Coffee Lake создан для мощных габаритных ноутбуков. Он включает в себя 6 процессорных ядер, которые могут работать на частотах от 2.2 до 4.1 ГГц, при этом максимальная частота 4 активных ядер составляет 4 ГГц, а 6 ядер - 3.9 ГГц. Процессор создан по улучшенному 14-нанометровому техпроцессу (14 нм++) и поддерживает многопоточность.
i9-8950HK: Процессор из семейства Coffee Lake для больших и мощных ноутбуков. Шестиядерный чип может работать на частоте от 2.9 до 4.8 ГГц (4.3 для 6 ядер одновременно), есть поддержка Hyperthreading. Производится по усовершенствованному 14 нм++ техпроцессу. Множитель разблокирован, потому возможен полноценный разгон.
i7-9750H: Мобильный процессор для мощных игровых ноутбуков. Шесть ядер способны работать на частоте от 2.6 до 4.5 ГГц
Intel Comet Lake:
i7-10750H: Производительный шестиядерный процессор семейства Comet Lake, подкласса H. Ориентирован на крупные, толстые ноутбуки с хорошей системой охлаждения, изготавливается на 14-нанометровом производстве Intel в третьем поколении. Процессорные ядра работают с частотой 2.6...5.0 ГГц и производят вычисления в 12 потоков за счёт активной функции Hyper-Threading; есть и встроенный графический адаптер, UHD Graphics 630 (с 24 блоками EU).
i7-10875H: Высокопроизводительный мобильный процессор семейства Comet Lake с 8 ядрами
