The Vivo X Fold main screen display performed well in our tests, particularly in color, and in artifacts, where it is at the top of the charts among all devices in our database thus far. The Vivo X Fold display really stood out in its consistent color fidelity, including skin tones, in all lighting environments and use cases. The device’s color score was just shy of the current top score. Further, the device ships with an anti-reflective film that not only reduces the visibility of the main screen’s crease but also improves readability in all lighting conditions, particularly in outdoor conditions. While the device’s peak brightness was not as high as that of other devices, brightness was well-managed thanks to the anti-reflective film and tuning. Where the device falters, however, is in its control of motion and of touch, with duplications, frequent frame drops, and a lack of smoothness affecting user satisfaction, particularly when gaming.

With a DXOMARK Audio score of 132, the Vivo X Fold performed well overall in our tests. While it proved to be an outstanding device for recording —thanks to the sheer wideness of its stereo recordings — playback results were just above average, leaving the testers wanting more, considering the X Fold’s dimensions and price point. In audio playback, our experts were satisfied with a deep low-end rendition complimenting an experience that was as equally pleasant in music listening as it was in movie-watching or gaming. However, the tonal balance was inconsistent depending on content and volume, and while the stereo wideness was perfectly good, one could have hoped for even better. The X Fold truly shone in recording, and while it was best with the main camera, results were good with the front camera and memo app as well. Audio recordings were exceptionally immersive, thanks to an outstanding stereo wideness both in landscape and portrait orientations when unfolded, and offered a very pleasant and natural sound signature. The Vivo also comes with an audio zoom feature that is useful in certain situations. However, our experts found that it could benefit from some adjustments.

The Vivo X Fold is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, and runs on Android 12 with Vivo's OriginOS Ocean (not Funtouch OS) skin. It comes equipped with a 4,600mAh battery that claims to be able to charge fully in just 37 minutes owing to the 66W wired charging. It can also charge wirelessly at 50W and supports reverse wireless charging at 10W. Despite the X Fold being Vivo's first-generation foldable phone, it is a well-crafted piece of technology that seems very sophisticated. Most of the big concerns that come with a foldable smartphone seem to be addressed here such as the cameras, hinge mechanism, and a premium appearance and feel. While Vivo has no plans as of now to launch the X Fold in India, it would be fantastic if it did as it would mean more choices for the consumer, which is always a good thing.

Both the displays support a 120Hz refresh rate. The Vivo X Fold runs on the latest Android 12 OS supported by Origin OS Ocean user interface customization. The 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset powers the device for an awesome performance. The Vivo X Fold smartphone is available in 12GB RAM with a 256GB/512GB internal storage option. For the next level of photography and videography, there is a quad rear camera with a 50MP main lens alongside a 16MP selfie camera. You can record 8K videos at 30fps from the main while only 1080p videos at 30fps from the selfie camera. У компании Vivo получилось представить интересный раскладной девайс, который однозначно заинтересует определенную группу пользователей. Смартфон получил высокую производительность, хороший набор камер и качественные дисплеи, что обязательно будет оценено по достоинству.

Выделиться на фоне других производителей складных смартфонов сегодня довольно сложно – правила игры уже сформированы, компании просто повторяют друг за другом, предлагая изменения в мелочах. Вот и vivo X Fold+ вроде бы ничем особенным не выделяется. Да, задняя панель из искусственной кожи, но подобное исполнение есть и у TECNO PHANTOM V Fold. Да, нет зазора между створками, но так же обстоят дела и у HONOR Magic Vs, и у OPPO Find N2. Да, очень крупные экраны (а внешний еще и приемлемого формата), но у Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 не меньше. И все же vivo X Fold+ стоит на общем насыщенном фоне выделить особенно – даже несмотря на то, что это самый толстый и тяжелый складной смартфон. Просто потому, что производитель вообще не стал искать компромиссы. Здесь стоит полноценно флагманский набор тыльных камер – сравниться по возможностям (да и по качеству) фотосъемки конкуренты просто не могут. С видео тоже дела обстоят неплохо. Проводная зарядка – быстрейшая (и зарядник лежит со смартфоном в коробке), есть и очень быстрая беспроводная. Оба экрана поддерживают частоту до 120 герц. По сути, не хватает только влагозащиты – и как-то уже можно простить и неоригинальность, и полторы тысячи евро цены. Пожалуй, это самый «упакованный» складной смартфон на рынке – и жаль, что он пока только для Китая, с соответствующей оболочкой.

Пока избавление от зазоров у некоторых складных смартфонов воспринимается как технологический прорыв, vivo уже давно делает как надо. Прошлогодний X Fold+ уже получился достойным девайсом, но в этому году стало еще лучше. Симметричные половинки и рамки, минимальная складка, роскошные экраны и очень злое железо внутри. Никаких скидок на то, что это складной аппарат не для всех, что это некий компромисс технологий, а производителя надо понять и простить, попутно отдав ему кучу денег за сырой аппарат. Все это не про vivo X Fold 2. Сюда даже Wi-Fi 7 завезли, как и беспроводную зарядку, причем быструю. Единственный минус — отсутствие вменяемой защиты от воды и пыли. Ждем в следующем поколении? К сожалению, смартфон не планируют продавать в России. Однако обходными путями его можно добыть за 120 тысяч рублей или дороже — в зависимости от конфигурации памяти. Учитывая все это, vivo X Fold 2 — одна из лучших на сегодняшний день входных дверей в мир складных смартфонов.

Vivo definitely outdid itself with the X Fold2. It's by far one of the best foldables we've used as it stands out with exceptional displays (even the internal screen has a smaller-than-usual crease), great battery life, nice hinge design and not one but two ultrasonic fingerprint readers that work flawlessly. We find that last bit a huge advantage over the current side-mounted readers in today's foldables. The overall camera experience isn't bad either. It's not ideal, but it's mostly on par with what the competition offers. We would have liked a better selfie and further zoom reach (3x at least), but otherwise, the quality is solid during the day and at night. We also wished for a better stereo speaker setup, although we understand that not everyone would mind the speakers as they are.

The Vivo X Fold 2 is the newest foldable on the market, and I'm a bit disappointed by it — although to be fair, I have the highest standards when it comes to foldables. The X Fold 2 packs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, two OLED screens (6.5-inch and 8-inch) with 120Hz refresh rate. There's a 4,800 mAh battery and a triple camera system headlined by a 50MP Sony IMX866 main camera. To be fair, the Vivo X Fold 2 holds up quite well against the Galaxy Z Fold 4. I'm just spoiled by the Huawei Mate X3 and Xiaomi Mix Fold 2.
