The Alienware 15 is an excellent machine obviously. Very good thermals with no throttling, very good keyboard, good 1080p IPS, slick looks, many features, low noise and very good performance. The AW15 basic version, although with an I5-4210H will be faster than GTX 960M machines by around 20-30%, so if you can get one for $1000-$1050 it’s a good option.

For the price of around €1600 you can easily snatch a notebook with quad-core Core i7 CPU, but you might be disappointed with the GPU performance. So the question here is: Are you willing to trade the CPU for a more capable GPU? IF the answer is yes – go for the Alienware 15. It’s a great notebook and gives you a room for improvement with the Alienware Graphics Amplifier and the CPU will still handle any modern game and it won’t affect your FPS much.

Price is very reasonable and the configuration is highly customizable in terms of both components and the look thanks to the lighting. The laptop also offers great sound for games and music, and one of the most comfortable keyboards I've used this year. But if that doesn't do it for you, 7-plus hours of battery life should; this is easily one of the longest-lasting gaming systems on the market.

You probably have a good reason to buy Alienware AW15R3-0012SLV if gaming, the hardcore sort, is close to your heart. The graphics performance in this notebook is strong, with the GTX 1060 graphics card providing some insane oomph for any game played on maxed out settings. Be it Triple A titles or older games you’re looking at, FPS is going to be smooth. One worse thing would be the missing solid-state drive, but you can install one yourself later. As it is, the Alienware will make an avid gamer happy!

Итак, на одной чаше весов у Alienware 15 R3 необычный, стильный дизайн, очень качественная аудиоподсистема, отличный экран, удобная клавиатура и тачпад. Ноутбук легко (частично) разобрать, можно самостоятельно установить дополнительный SSD-накопитель c разъемом M.2. Добавим к этому поддержку технологии отслеживания взгляда Tobii EyeX и продолжительное время автономной работы. По уровню интегральной производительности это производительное (но не высокопроизводительное) решение. Наконец, ноутбук Alienware 15 R3 позволяет комфортно играть при настройках игр на максимальное качество в разрешении 1920×1080.

That’s a significant price discrepancy, so I’d only opt for the higher-end models if you can find one that’s provides particularly good value. Bottom line, the AW15R3 is not as cheap as other laptops, and doesn’t offer almost nothing above the competitors like the GT62VR and Clevo P650RP6/P650RS. Not only that, some machines with GTX 1070 can be found for the same price from time to time. I think that for many, the extra connection ports may not be as important as lower price and better thermals and GSync, like in the case of the MSI GT62VR (which has an MXM GPU that can be upgraded).

We welcome the modern cooling design and lower heat internals that are very 2016, and the (dare I say) classy looking aluminum and soft touch black finishes. Pricing is more attainable too, and for a few hundred dollars more, you get a more high end look than the competition (honorable mention to the Asus ROG G752 that's out there but still looks like high class goods). Of course, you get an unparalleled AlienFX LED lightshow too, in all its zone programmable chroma goodness--and that can all be turned off with the press of a button so you can take it to work and not be teased.

It has a compact, robust chassis and the inclusion of a powerful VR-ready graphics card should ensure that it easily delivers excellent frame rates when playing 1080p games. Hopefully, it delivers on its opening promise come its release later this year, and I’ll once again be pushing the Alienware 15 as my small-form-factor gaming laptop of choice.

The Alienware 15 R3 packs in an NVIDIA GTX 1070 along with an Intel Core i7 6700HQ. Although, this isn’t the retail unit, it is pretty close in terms of performance. Alienware has certainly improved the build quality of the gaming laptops with added rigidity and ease of access for customisation. The lid doesn’t extend as far back as most other gaming laptops and you don’t get an SD card reader. Performance wise, we’d like to mention that you should be getting a 240 W power adapter with the unit should you decide to get one. The 180 W adapter does not do any justice to the performance capabilities of this machine. Most laptops with a GTX 1070 cost around 1.7-1.8 lakhs.

Alienware 15 R3 GTX 1070 Review

The Alienware 15 R3 packs in an NVIDIA GTX 1070 along with an Intel Core i7 6700HQ. Although, this isn’t the retail unit, it is pretty close in terms of performance. Alienware has certainly improved the build quality of the gaming laptops with added rigidity and ease of access for customisation. The lid doesn’t extend as far back as most other gaming laptops and you don’t get an SD card reader. Performance wise, we’d like to mention that you should be getting a 240 W power adapter with the unit should you decide to get one. The 180 W adapter does not do any justice to the performance capabilities of this machine. Most laptops with a GTX 1070 cost around 1.7-1.8 lakhs.

To be honest, you won’t be getting better specs or performance compared to the much more affordable Acer Predator 15 or the ASUS ROG GL502VS but it will definitely reflect on the overall user experience. The only caveat and issue for me is the 120Hz screen wasn’t really stretched in our testing; not one of the games we tested managed to hit 120fps at maximum settings. This makes the 120Hz a little pointless in games other than those less intensive and having a Gysnc enabled screen makes all the difference to those wishing to avoid screen tearing. Everything was great in all honesty and the Alienware 15 R3 is a solid option for those wanting a GTX 1070, but still want all the benefits of being able to game on the move!

Dell Alienware 15 R3 – это мощный, дорогой и именитый законодатель моды в игровом сегменте. Однако его нельзя назвать идеальным примером для подражания, ибо здесь присутствуют недостатки, которые могут стать преградой для покупки. Но вначале о достоинствах: великолепный и неповторимый дизайн, качественный дисплей, высокопроизводительная начинка и широчайший выбор портов, прекрасная клавиатура и довольно емкий аккумулятор. Но ценник в $2200 заставит задуматься о таких недочетах, как наличие всего одного SSD, отсутствие кардридера и, что уж говорить, очень посредственная акустическая система. Но, как всегда, все взвешивает покупатель, и возможно, ни один из перечисленных факторов «против» не помешает приобрести этот достойный игровой лэптоп.

Итак, мы рассмотрели очередную (уже четвертую) ревизию ноутбука Alienware 15, на самом производительном процессоре для ноутбуков Core i9-8950HK, который к тому же можно разгонять. Безусловно, использование такого процессора в паре с самой мощной игровой видеокартой для ноутбуков делают модель Alienware 15 R4 самым производительным на сегодняшний день мобильным решением. Добавим сюда хорошую аудиоподсистему, удобную клавиатуру и тачпад и отличный экран. И все это, что называется, на одной чаше весов.

Alienware:
Графические процессоры этой категории производительности справятся со многими играми, если не гнаться за максимальным разрешением и качеством картинки. Сравнительно умеренное энергопотребление таких GPU обеспечит увеличение времени автономной работы.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M:
Вторая по мощности видеокарта для ноутбуков, основанная на чипе GM204 (Maxwell).
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M: Игровая видеокарта для ноутбуков, основанная на чипе GM204 (Maxwell).
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M:
Мощная видеокарта для ноутбуков, основанная на чипе GM204 (Maxwell).
Графические процессоры этой категории производительности способны на многое и подойдут для большинства игр, иногда даже при максимальных настройках и разрешениях. Чаще всего GPU "просто верхнего" уровня производительности расходуют заметно меньше энергии, чем самые-самые топовые и дорогие модели.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Mobile: Графический процессор с 1280 ядрами Pascal (GP106) и видеопамятью GDDR5.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Mobile: Графический процессор с 2048 ядрами Pascal (GP204) и видеопамятью GDDR5.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Max-Q: Видеокарта с высокой энергоэффективностью поколения Pascal (чип GP104) с 8 ГБ видеопамяти GDDR5X. Содержи 2560 шейдеров, производительность относительно полновесной GTX 1080 снижена на 10-15%, но энергопотребление гораздо ниже.

6700HQ: Процессор с 4 ядрами поколения Skylake.
6820HK: Skylake-based quad-core processor for notebooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 530 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.
Intel Core i5:
4210H:
Двухъядерный процессор на архитектуре Haswell, работающий на частотах от 2.9 до 3.5 (Turbo Boost) ГГц. Включает встроенную видеокарту Intel HD Graphics 4600 и двухканальный контроллер памяти DDR3. Отличается высоким для семейства Haswell TDP в 47 Вт.
6300HQ: Процессор с 4 ядрами Skylake. Ориентирован на ноутбуки. Имеет встроенный видеопроцессор HD Graphics 530, изготавливается на 14-нанометровом производстве.
6300U: Процессор среднего сегмента производительности (consumer) с 2 ядрами поколения Skylake.
Intel Kaby Lake:
i7-7700HQ: Четырехъядерный мобильный процессор из семейства Kaby Lake. Кроме процессорных ядер с поддержкой Hyperthreading имеет также встроенную видеокарту HD Graphics 630. Производится по 14 нм техпроцессу.
i7-7820HK: Intel Core i7-7820HK - мощный процессор архитектуры Kaby Lake, представленный в январе 2017 года. Он получил четыре ядра с рабочей частотой 2.9-3.9 ГГц, встроенную видеокарту HD Graphics 630 и двухканальный контроллер памяти DDR3L-1600/DDR4-2400.
Intel Coffee Lake:
i9-8950HK: Процессор из семейства Coffee Lake для больших и мощных ноутбуков. Шестиядерный чип может работать на частоте от 2.9 до 4.8 ГГц (4.3 для 6 ядер одновременно), есть поддержка Hyperthreading. Производится по усовершенствованному 14 нм++ техпроцессу. Множитель разблокирован, потому возможен полноценный разгон.
i7-8750H: Новый процессор семейства Coffee Lake создан для мощных габаритных ноутбуков. Он включает в себя 6 процессорных ядер, которые могут работать на частотах от 2.2 до 4.1 ГГц, при этом максимальная частота 4 активных ядер составляет 4 ГГц, а 6 ядер - 3.9 ГГц. Процессор создан по улучшенному 14-нанометровому техпроцессу (14 нм++) и поддерживает многопоточность.

Предельная граница, после которой ноутбук уже не поворачивается язык назвать портативным. Как правило, ноутбуки с подобным весом обладают производительной начинкой и увесистой системой охлаждения.
3.55 килог.:
Такой вес приемлем для производительного ноутбука с большим экраном - особенно, выпущенного несколько лет назад. Сегодня большинство производителей стремится уместить свои ноутбуки в корпуса весом от одного до двух килограммов.
80.01%: Неплохой товар с очевидными и не такими уж малочисленными недостатками, не способный выделиться среди прямых конкурентов.
