Fairly lengthy battery life, an aluminium frame and populist core specs help bring it back to the mainstream, though. Regardless, there are a few too many little issues to consider the Envy x360 a true hit. A plastic-surface trackpad, slight lack of keyboard definition, limited display brightness and an ever-so-slightly distracting fan are not huge problems by themselves. But together they drag the machine down, highlighted by our recent experiences with the more solid, more affordable Envy 15.

Who needs a 15.6-inch convertible laptop? Not everyone, but there must be a good few potential buyers given this isn't HP's first go at the design. What you need to bear in mind, though, is that aside from a bonus HDD, this is a blown-up take on the more common smaller hybrids. It doesn't have desktop-grade power and, while the screen quality is decent, colour isn't as punchy as the kind of 13-inch laptop you might buy at the price.

The premium design, gorgeous display and tablet capabilities combine for a computing package that seems ideal for students on their return to school. Considering what this 2-in-1 offers, the price isn’t half bad either at £849. That’s significantly cheaper than other go-to student laptops such as the MacBook, Dell XPS 13 and Surface Book 2 and so could prove to be a belter of a bargain for those starting their studies. I say “could” because we’re yet to know how well the Envy x360 performs. Trusted Reviews is currently testing out the 13-inch counterpart and will give you our verdict on that soon.

It’s comforting to know that Intel finally has a competitor when it comes to mobile CPUs. Intel has had it too good for too long and competition from AMD is just what this segment of the market needs to keep it interesting. When it comes to pure grunt, the Ryzen 5 2500U keeps up with Intel’s latest and the Radeon Vega 8 GPU, whilst not a gaming barnstormer, can play along. Whilst the Ryzen CPU is great, HP’s choice of chassis to place it in, is not as good. It’s heavy, contains a small battery, and has difficulty extracting all of the the heat this powerful CPU spits out.

When you get a convertible, perhaps one of the two major things you need is to have a good display and a stylus. Well, with this guy, you get both right off the bat. Ultimately, this is a great machine that has a lot to offer. It has a very good sound system (not on the level of the MacBooks and Dell XPSes of the world though), and its price makes it very appealing. However, we would advise waiting for Zen 3 models to come, although we have no information about this happening.

HP Envy x360 15 (15-es1000)’s IPS panel has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and excellent contrast ratio. It covers 94% of the sRGB color gamut, and its backlight doesn’t use PWM for brightness adjustment. Thanks to our Gaming and Web design profile it accurately represents the colors found on the Web, which makes it appropriate for professional use. The next thing in mind here is the battery. We got less than 7 hours of Web browsing or nearly 11 hours of video playback. While the latter is close to the result achieved by the AMD version of this very same laptop, the Web results seem odd. On the bright side, memory and storage upgrades down the line are possible, and the fact you get an SD card reader should be really appreciated by photographers. Ultimately, this is not a bad device. For now, the AMD model seems a bit better in our view, and if you are going to work on intensive software, you will want to take a cooling pad with you.

HP's Envy line of laptops and two-in-one convertibles is the middle child between the mainstream Pavilion series and the premium Spectre line. The Envy x360 15 is a 15.6-inch two-in-one that delivers the best of both worlds: a premium design that's closer to that of a Spectre at a price that's more meat-and-potatoes Pavilion. The Envy x360 15 boasts an attractive, rigid all-metal body, but the design is no different than last year's model. And while we don't mind last year's looks, we are less enthused with HP sticking with a widescreen 16:9 display when the increasingly popular 16:10 panels found in such convertibles as the Dell Inspiron 16 two-in-one and Lenovo Yoga 7i 16 are roomier and more useful, while hardly adding to the system's overall footprint. The Envy x360 15's component lineup is solidly midrange with a Ryzen 7 5825U CPU that's now a year old and a generation behind AMD's current 6000 series. It's paired with 12GB of RAM that's more than the 8GB you get with typical budget models but less than the 16GB you can usually find at this price. The biggest change from last year's model is HP having doubled the webcam resolution from a grainy 720p to a crisp 1440p camera. In the era of video conferences, a bump in webcam fidelity is greatly appreciated. Then again, if the webcam is the headliner, it's not much of an update overall.

The Envy x360 15 boasts an attractive, rigid all-metal body, but the design is no different than last year's model. And while we don't mind last year's looks, we are less enthused with HP sticking with a widescreen 16:9 display when the increasingly popular 16:10 panels found in such convertibles as the Dell Inspiron 16 two-in-one and Lenovo Yoga 7i 16 are roomier and more useful, while hardly adding to the system's overall footprint. The Envy x360 15's component lineup is solidly midrange with a Ryzen 7 5825U CPU that's now a year old and a generation behind AMD's current 6000 series. It's paired with 12GB of RAM that's more than the 8GB you get with typical budget models but less than the 16GB you can usually find at this price. The biggest change from last year's model is HP having doubled the webcam resolution from a grainy 720p to a crisp 1440p camera. In the era of video conferences, a bump in webcam fidelity is greatly appreciated. Then again, if the webcam is the headliner, it's not much of an update overall.

Whether you want a svelte 2-in-1 or just need an affordable 15.6-inch laptop that does the job, the HP Envy x360 is a marvel of a machine. For $630, this laptop provides a premium-feeling experience with its sturdy all-metal construction, good battery life, and an aesthetic that can stand up to laptops twice its price. Its Ryzen 5 processor provides more than enough performance for the most common productivity tasks, and it’s ultra-efficient to boot. It’s a laptop built to last, as its repair-friendly design makes it easier to upgrade memory or storage if you need to. The Envy x360 shares a lot of high points with the pricier HP Spectre 14, but it’s definitely not perfect. The Envy x360’s display is not as bright or vivid as some of its similarly-priced rivals, like the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED we reviewed earlier this year. The Acer Swift X is not as fashionable as the Zenbook or Envy x360, but it’s the laptop to get for the best performance and battery life in a budget laptop (it can handle modest gaming and it has almost ten hours of battery life). If you’re open to Macs, the 2020 M1 MacBook Air’s is about as powerful as the Envy x360 and stretches its battery life to 12 hours. We’ve seen it on sale as low as $830, too. Despite the competition, the HP Envy x360 stands out for its great value in a form factor usually reserved for premium laptops. If it were my money being spent on a new, affordable 2-in-1 laptop, the HP Envy x360 15-es2026nr would certainly be at the top of my shopping list. It's comfortable to type on for prolonged periods and feels sturdy enough to withstand a good knock here and there. However, there's not a lot that stands out about this device. It's cumbersome and generic looking. While the IMAX certification was a promising prospect, it didn't really amount to much in the end - and doesn't change the fact that the screen is a disappointing resolution. With reasonable pricing and regular sales making it cheaper still, you're still getting a robust bit of kit for your money. It's not a bargain at its $1,199.99 list price, either, but tempting at its current $799.99 discount, however long that holds. The Envy falls short of Editors' Choice award honors, but if you frequently attend video calls and want a full-size laptop with a screen that makes your presentations look their best—or are just curious about IMAX Enhanced—you could do a lot worse. In this price range, we still recommend the albeit smaller Lenovo Yoga 7i 14 Gen 7 as our midrange 2-in-1 of choice.

If you are on the hunt for a modern 2-in-1 laptop but don’t want to spend too much money on it, the HP Envy x360 15 (15-fe0000) is one of the possible solutions. This is a multipurpose machine thanks to the long battery life and the good cooling system. The optional Core i7-1355U can maintain 2.86 GHz for the P cores and 2.13 GHz for the E cores in long loads which is a pretty good result for a laptop with transforming capabilities. The keyboard doesn’t feel too hot to the touch when the internals are heavily stressed (in “Performance” mode). In this case, the fan becomes audible but it doesn’t sound like a vacuum cleaner. For standard daily tasks, just use the “Quiet” preset or the “Smart Sense” auto mode that offers a less aggressive fan curve. The biggest surprise here is the 1080p IPS display (LG Display LGD0762).

This may be a first-generation IMAX display, but it is certainly not the first time HP has released an Envy laptop. I’m saying this because it has certain traits of a first-gen laptops that can be hopefully improved in the next generation. For starters, this gets the IMAX badge, but only with an FHD-resolution display. There’s no high refresh rate option either, and the GPU is literally from last year. However, at this price, you’re getting a good display for day-to-day work and movie watching. You can enjoy IMAX-enhanced movies on this screen, and also get a x360 convertible machine for more creative and productive use cases. So, all in all, I think I can wrap this HP Envy x360 IMAX review by saying that this laptop doesn’t really do justice to the IMAX badging, but is an otherwise good machine for the price.

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности справятся со многими играми, если не гнаться за максимальным разрешением и качеством картинки. Сравнительно умеренное энергопотребление таких GPU обеспечит увеличение времени автономной работы.

Ориентирован на тонкие ноутбуки, задействует архитектуру Zen 2, процессорные ядра работают с частотой от 2.1 ГГц до 4.0 ГГц, есть встроенный графический адаптер под названием Vega 7. Хотя Ryzen 5 5500U входит в пятитысячную серию процессоров AMD, разработанных для ноутбуков, характеристики его очень напоминают нам про Ryzen 5 4600U. Главное заметное на глаз отличие - чуть более мощный графический процессор, Vega 7 на месте Vega 6.

i5-1135G7: Четырёхъядерный процессор среднего уровня для ноутбуков и планшетов. Относится к семейству Tiger Lake (подкласс UP3), изготавливается на 10-нанометровом производстве Intel во втором поколении, располагает 80-блочным видеопроцессором Iris Xe Graphics G7.
i7-1165G7: Четырёхъядерный процессор семейства Tiger Lake. Относится к среднему уровню производительности, ориентирован на тонкие ноутбуки; частота процессорных ядер при 28-ваттовом долговременном Power Limit равна 28 Вт, максимально достижимая частота при нагрузке на одно ядро = 4.7 ГГц. Встроенный графический процессор называется Iris Xe G7 (96 блоков EU). Рассматриваемый Core i7 изготавливается на 10-нанометровом производстве Intel во втором поколении и был вторым по производительности среди всех процессоров Tiger Lake подкласса UP3, когда Intel представила их в 2020 году.

75.77%: Посредственный товар. Его недостатки слишком значительны, а цена слишком велика на фоне того, что предлагается потенциальному покупателю взамен. Если есть возможность, лучше поискать более удачный вариант.
