For someone who wants a big phone without stepping all the way into Ultra territory, it does make sense. Be that as it may, the S26 Plus starts at Rs 1,19,999 in India. The S25 Plus launched at around Rs 99,999, which means there is a price jump of roughly Rs 20,000. For the extra money, you get a newer chip, larger battery, sharper QHD+ display, and One UI 8.5. But at the same time, this pricing brings it closer to the Ultra, which starts at Rs 1,39,999 — a difference of about Rs 20,000. In fact, with discounts, the gap may become even smaller, making the comparison harder to ignore. And that gap matters. Because when you look at what the Ultra offers, it starts to feel like the more complete package. You get a more advanced camera system, S Pen support, and exclusive display features that are simply not available on the S26 Plus. In other words, the final decision comes down to how much money you’re happy to shell out.

So, should you buy the Galaxy S26+? Honestly, it's a tough one. Samsung has raised the price but hasn't given you much in return, and the same problem that has plagued the Plus model for years remains: there's still not enough separating it from the base S26 beyond a larger display and a bigger battery. On top of that, most buyers outside the US and China are paying a premium price for a phone that doesn't even run the best chip available. The Exynos 2600 is a capable processor, but knowing that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 exists and you're not getting it is hard to ignore. That said, the S26+ is still a good phone, and anyone buying it will have a genuinely good experience, as long as they're not expecting the best Samsung has to offer. It's a particularly solid choice if you're upgrading from an S23+ or older, or stepping up from a mid-range phone to a proper flagship for the first time. If neither of those applies to you, though, the calculus gets harder. S25+ owners have no real reason to upgrade, and if you want the best Samsung cameras or the fastest chip, the Ultra is where you should be looking. And if you're tempted to save some money and go for the S25+ instead, that honestly wouldn't be a bad decision, either.

Performance is fast, and the overall experience is refined as well. On the other hand, it's hard to ignore how little has changed. At this point, it feels like Samsung is testing the limits of brand loyalty by sticking with 8-bit displays, low PWM dimming, three-generation-old camera hardware, and slow charging speeds. Now, to address the question of whether you should buy the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+. If you're upgrading from a much older Galaxy phone, both of them make a fairly strong case. But for those who have a recent S-series model, the improvements are definitely not significant enough to warrant a switch. To enjoy all of the latest bells and whistles, you'll either have to shell out for the Galaxy S26 Ultra or look toward the increasingly capable competition, including the likes of iPhone 17, Oppo Find X9, Vivo X300, and iQOO 15 — all of which offer a better experience on different fronts.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus is exactly what I expected it to be: a solid mid-tier Android smartphone that does enough to be great but doesn’t quite make it to excellence. Powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset for Galaxy, the S26 Plus topped even the most premium competitors on performance. Jumping into games like Destiny Rising on the highest graphics is a breeze, and you can genuinely expect to enjoy performance that's largely comparable to the best gaming phones on Samsung's latest flagship middle child. The S26 Plus' 6.7-inch display is just as bright and colorful as the S26 Ultra's, highlighting all of the gorgeous colors in my favorite media content. Its premium svelte design is stunning in certain colorways, too, and the near bezel-less face makes for an immersive viewing experience.

I don’t think either the Galaxy S26 or the S26 Plus is particularly impressive. These are effectively the same phones as last year, which were the same phones as the year before that, and so on. However, while we can usually recommend both the base and Plus models for committed Samsung fans, I don’t think that’s true with the S26 series. If you like Samsung phones and desperately need an upgrade, the base model Galaxy S26 is a fine choice. It has the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip as the other two more expensive S26 models, the same cameras as the S26 Plus, and comes in a much more comfortable, pocketable form factor than its two larger siblings. As you might have heard, the S26 is more expensive this year, but it also comes with double the storage — 256GB instead of 128GB. That’s $100 more than the 128GB Galaxy S25 and $40 more expensive than the 256GB version. It’s not ideal, but it could have been a lot worse. It could have been like the Galaxy S26 Plus. Samsung’s Plus model has always been the awkward middle child of the Galaxy S family, and this year, it simply doesn’t make any sense at all. There’s no storage upgrade like the S26 benefits from, but the S26 Plus is still more expensive. The 256GB model sees a $100 price increase to $1,100, while the 512GB variant was hit with a whopping $180 price increase to $1,300.

In fact, thanks to the switch from Snapdragon to Exynos, this generation isn't as strong for battery performance compared with the previous generation. The Samsung S26 Plus can still play the latest, most demanding games like Wuthering Waves, but don't expect to spend long before the power is drained. This big-screen Galaxy phone sports a sadly familiar camera setup, although the good news is that image processing has been slightly improved. The Samsung S26 Plus can take quite crisp night photos, although it still occasionally struggles with action pics with kids and pets. Likewise, the zoom camera isn't so hot in low light.

I have to use the Malaysian pricing for this part so your consensus may vary because I am going to compare with the previous generation’s price. At the time of scripting this review, the entire S26 series is actually way much more expensive than the previous generation. This is also the first price hike that I’ve seen that is caused by the global DRAM shortage that effects RAM and SSD, but the price is quite egregious to say the least.Now, you might say other brands are very low in price – so why not get those? Well, their price hikes are coming soon too.But in the uniqueness of the Galaxy S26+, I’d say you can just get it now and score the free double storage upgrade, or wait till the price drops. I’m not sure how much the price will drop since there’s a DRAM shortage that we still don’t see the end of. In any case, I assume Samsung will bring the latest One UI 8.5 alongside all of the new features to the previous generations as well, but at a later date. And since we have that in mind, maybe you can also consider getting the S25+ too. The price of that is waaaaaaaaaay lower right now.

This lack of upgrades perhaps makes for a higher threshold to clear for these phones to be worthy replacements of what you're already using. That said, these two phones still seem like worthy opponents for the Google Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro, or the iPhone 17.
