Выглядит премиально, дисплей яркий и с быстрой герцовкой. Но есть и недостатки. Например, процессор Exynos задумчивый и греется в повседневных сценариях на ровном месте. «Китайцы» на Snapdragon и Dimensity в этом сегменте заметно шустрее. Зум-модуль и ультраширик в темноте снимают хуже смартфонов Huawei и Honor. Можно докопаться и до «подбородка» под экраном, но это уже крайности. Суммируя плюсы и минусы, получается сильный перевес в «плюс». Ну, а если вы хотите нивелировать и эти недостатки, тогда на рынке можно найти Samsung Galaxy S25+ по цене от 63 тыс. рублей с накопителем 256 ГБ. Из прочих вариантов — Huawei Pura 80, Honor 400 Pro, realme GT 7, iPhone 16.

Considering its larger display, longer battery life, faster charging, and lower price, the Galaxy S25 FE clearly offers better value for most users and is easily my choice of device between the two. That said, if raw performance and portability are your top priorities and you don’t mind the smaller battery, slower charging, and slightly higher price, the Galaxy S25 remains the better choice.

There's just enough here to justify spending $650 on a phone that is barely an upgrade over its predecessor. If you're a Samsung fan, I'm sure the S25 FE will be frequently discounted, but why reward the company for a lazy effort? Besides, the S25, following a $200 discount for Prime Day, was only $10 more than the FE earlier this month. Over the past few years, Google and Nothing have shown midrange phones don't need to be boring, iterative affairs. For Samsung, I think it's time to rethink its FE strategy. If these phones offered something different — say actual fan favorite features like a headphone jack — there could be compelling reasons to recommend them. The design feels great as it’s sleek, light, and has that premium Samsung feel. Well, sadly you lose a few features and suffer some specs slashes vs the S25 Plus. So, performance relies on last year's old Exynos 2400 - not even the fresher 2500 stuffed in that Flip 7. The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE is still fine for gaming, but not as smooth running more intense titles. Likewise, the camera tech isn't quite as capable, especially that dinky zoom sensor. Battery life is thankfully fine, if not stellar. You have a slightly bigger cell stuffed inside of the Samsung S25 FE vs the older S24 model - and much larger than the Edge! Although recharging is still slow, despite Qi2 support.The display isn't as sharp or bright as that Plus screen, but still quite poppy and a good one for movies or gaming. Audio is spaffed out by a respectable pair of stereo speakers and of course you have a veritable buffet of AI shenanigans.

However, you can find more powerful phones with better cameras, and many of the S25 FE's competitors excel in battery life and charging speed, which are two aspects in which the Fan Edition is not particularly good at. Those rivals are much cheaper too.

The question now becomes – should you buy the Galaxy S25 FE? Well, I’d say yes. Okay, before you head to the comments section and be angry, hear me out. The Galaxy S25 FE is priced at USD $709.99 for 256GB, now discounted to USD $649.99 – or RM3,099 in Malaysia. While that sounds high, it’s actually lower than the S24 FE for us in Malayisa, but the same USD pricing. With that said, it’s still at a high price. But – Samsung did have a huge discount for the S24 FE down to around RM2,099. And I think the same will hapen for the S25 FE too. When that happens, the S25 FE is really affordable. While it’s very similar to the S24 FE, I’d still suggest getting the S25 FE. You do get another year of extra Android OS upgrade and security patches because of the release date, and also an upgraded selfie camera if you care about that. Still, I do think Samsung should’ve used the Exynos 2500 in the S25 FE.

The previous model has very comparable specs, especially in terms of chipset, display, and camera, and it will last you seven years. Now, if you want an affordable flagship, or you're coming from a much older Galaxy S-series device (Fan Edition or not), the S25 FE is a great choice. It offers all the bells and whistles of a modern flagship at a decent price. You can also go down a notch and get the Galaxy A56 if you want to save even more money (it's $200 less), but there's no telephoto and the chipset is slower. At £649, it’s actually more expensive than the regular S25, which you can get hold of these days for just a smidge over £500. On top of being cheaper, it also has a better camera system and is lighter and more compact. The FE, to be fair to it, is closer in size and spec to the S25 Plus, which is considerably more expensive at around £750. But for your extra money, you’re getting double the storage, as well as 1.5 times the RAM, a slimmer profile and a better camera system. I’m sure the S25 FE will provide the perfect fit for some people. And we’ll be passing our final verdict on it when we get our hands on one for testing soon, but for now I’m not convinced it’s a persuasive enough proposition for many to pick it over the more capable S25 and S25 Plus.
