You know, when you first see a 17-inch laptop with bezels so thin, you just can’t help but marvel at the engineering miracle you’re seeing. Combine this with the fact that that said display can run at 600 nits of maximum brightness and you can barely notice there are any bezels around it. However, as with the 15-inch model, there is something fundamentally wrong with Dell’s offering. And you have guessed it right – the base version of the device. You just can’t offer a Core i5-10300H model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage (no matter how fast it is) and put it at $1450. And if you want to get the next option, which includes the more powerful Core i7-10750H and the GTX 1650 Ti, you need to spend $600 more (yet you get double the memory and the storage). And things really get out of control if you want the 4K display, which will set you back a total of $2900.

Однозначно, что обновление модельного ряда DELL в виде XPS 17 9710 оказалось очень актуальным – высокая производительность, эффективность системы охлаждения с испарительной камерой и функциональность подтверждают премиальность модели. Ноутбук получил также очень качественный дисплей с IPS-матрицей с охватом 100% sRGB и сенсорным управлением. Разрешение UHD+ 3840х2400p поможет при работе с графикой, а яркость 500 Кд/м2 сделает её комфортной. В целом, есть ощущение, что XPS 17 9710 совместил в себе сразу два класса – игровой ноутбук и функциональный компактный ультрабук, хотя и имеет диагональ 17”. Хорошая автономность при тонком корпусе и высокой производительности, вдобавок отличный звук и относительно невысокие температуры комплектующих под нагрузкой с минимальным троттлингом – очень интересная модель.

Most users won’t, and I would suggest that most people may be better off looking at the XPS 15, which has similar performance in a much more portable package. But if you need to be able to crunch humongous spreadsheets, attack demons with chainsaws and handle pretty much any other computing task you can think of, the XPS 17 can handle it. As long as you have the shoulders big enough to carry it, that is.

The 2022 edition of the Dell XPS 17 is as ever a virtually unique big screen laptop. It’s slim and relatively light, has a premium, rigid unibody aluminum design and performance verging on gaming laptop territory. This refresh has Intel 12th gen Alder Lake H series CPUs, NVIDIA RTX 3050 and RTX 3060 dedicated graphics options and upgradable RAM and storage. There are2 display options, both being 6:10 aspect ratio and 500 nit: full HD and 4K wide gamut touch. This is a creator laptop for Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Blender and more, though of course it can handle some gaming too. It’s closest competitors are the 17” Razer Blade and 16” MacBook Pro.
