But it lacks the power you’d need for taxing tasks like video editing or serious gaming -- things people actually want a big screen for. If you’re looking for a big laptop to carry around when you travel, but don’t need it to handle anything too demanding, the Gram 17 is a solid choice. But most people would be better served by a more powerful 15-inch notebook.

As was the case with the 15.6-inch Gram 15, if you want a large screen, long battery life and the lightest travel weight possible, the Gram 17 is the answer. It is nothing short of amazing that LG can keep the body so light while maintaining performance and battery life. LG must agree, too, given its $1,700 price. It has a couple of shortcomings like the keyboard and speakers, but otherwise, LG's made another solid big screen ultraportable laptop, even if it doesn't necessarily feel "solid."

You wouldn't buy this machine just for the weight though. After all, the smaller gram models are lighter. The 15-inch model from last year is just 2.4 pounds, and the gram 14 2-in-1 is just over 2.5 pounds. If you go the 13-inch route, which hasn't been refreshed in a while, it's just 2.1 pounds. You'll have to want the big screen as well. On top of that, you get a real keyboard, a full 15W quad-core Core i7, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD. There's not much else that you can ask for in a portable PC that's just so light. At $1,699.99, the LG gram 17 is definitely a buy, if this sounds like the type of PC that you're looking for.

Испытанный нами ультрабук обладает привлекательной внешностью, хорошо оснащен, а главное — тонок и легок (1,3 кг), это его «изюминки». Пятое достоинство — тихая работа: в офисных приложениях и при просмотре видео никакого шума не слышно вообще, но даже под максимальной нагрузкой акустическое сопровождение негромкое и не отягощает. Интерфейсов достаточно: 4 порта USB (в том числе пара USB4/Thunderbolt 4), HDMI, миниджек для гарнитуры. Не хватает лишь разъема RJ-45 для подключения к проводной сети Ethernet, но он в тонких современных ноутбуках уже практически вымер. Имеется картовод для microSD и «джентльменский набор» для бизнеса: полноразмерная клавиатура с цифровым блоком, увеличенный по площади тачпад, кенсингтонский замок, вебкамера 720p и два встроенных микрофона, а также сканер отпечатков пальцев, который производит опознание пользователя в момент его прикосновения к кнопке включения питания, после чего дополнительно вводить пароль или PIN не требуется.

It has a wonderful selection of ports, a good display, and it can do most of the tasks 90% of customers require with aplomb. Best of all, it lasted 14 hours on our battery test. However, as a 17-inch laptop selling for $1,799, the Gram lacks power. If you need more oomph, the Samsung Galaxy Book 360 is a great choice. At $1,499, the laptop gives better performance for hundreds less. If you want to play games, you’ll want to invest in the $3,049 Dell XPS 17, which has a discrete GPU, powerful performance and a better display, among other benefits. But for those looking for a thin-and-light laptop with the largest possible display., the LG Gram 17 is the laptop for you.

While the LG Gram doesn’t quite have the graphics power that I personally need, I’m very much going to miss using it as my work driver. The extra screen space was heaven, and the weight made walking around with it a breeze. The long battery life was the cherry on top — I never needed to worry about plugging this machine in. The primary compromises to consider are build quality (if that’s your top priority, the XPS is your choice) and the computing needs of your own workload. If you’re looking for a 17-incher, you don’t mind those compromises, and you don’t mind the slightly steep price tag, then you won’t be disappointed in the Gram.

While it can't match the display quality or performance of more expensive 17-inch notebooks like the Dell XPS 17 (2022) or the Alienware m17 R5 gaming laptop, that's not what the LG Gram 17 is built to do. This device is built to give you a lot of screen to work on, with plenty of power to keep that screen going all day, without a bunch of junk in the trunk to weigh you down. And in my experience, it delivers.Sure, the sound quality leaves something to be desired and the matte black paint job picks up fingerprints faster than a CSI extra. The built-in software isn't much to get excited about either, but you can deal with those limitations. If what you need is a 17-inch Windows laptop that can run all day and weighs less than 3 pounds, the LG Gram 17 is the laptop for you.

The LG Gram 17 is an impressive laptop, but it’s only right for a very specific type of person. If you really need a 17-inch display but still want to be able to take your laptop everywhere with you, it’s the best choice out there. But if you’re looking for a performance powerhouse, this isn’t it. The Gram 17 is still plenty fast during everyday tasks, but the lack of a discrete GPU limits what it’s capable of. And as good as the display is, the lack of OLED, a high refresh rate and touch support means it falls short of the best laptop screens around. Alongside a flimsy build and that high price tag, most people will be better off with something smaller and cheaper. However, battery life and ports are both great, and I still can’t get over how light this thing is. That alone means it’s worth considering.

Someone who really wants to play League of Legends on a giant screen but not really any modern games? Folks with some kind of GPU load at work (but not a heavy one) who need to carry their laptop to and from the office and don’t have access to an external monitor? I don’t know, maybe those are the two groups. But for pretty much everyone else, I see a regular non-GPU LG Gram (or a Style, if LG ever manages to fix the touchpad) as a better purchase. You’ll get a lower price, better battery life, and an even lighter device.

That isn't excessive considering the switch to discrete graphics (though the RTX 3050 is on the low side among current Nvidia GPUs) but, like the Gram Pro 17's weight surpassing 3 pounds, it makes the system a bit less appealing. We're also unimpressed by the keyboard and unnerved by the screen's wobbling and bowing. Still, the Gram Pro 17 has a lot in its favor. For 2023, LG updates the insanely slim and light magnesium alloy gram 17 Pro laptop (model 17Z90R) with NVIDIA RTX 3050 graphics and an Intel 13th gen Core i7 processor. At 3.2 lbs. / 1.45kg, the gram 17 Pro is among the lightest laptops on the market with dedicated graphics. It has a 17” QHD+ VRR 144Hz matte wide gamut display, plenty of ports including Thunderbolt 4 and a 90Whr battery for long runtimes. It might lack the horsepower of the Dell XPS 17 or 16” MacBook Pro, but if you need a lightweight carry and long battery life more than max performance, it’s worth a look.

The full keyboard and large display make working and browsing the web feel comfy, and when you want to unwind the screen and speakers make movies look and sound great. The power of a mid-tier 13th Gen Intel CPU and GeForce RTX 3050 GPU allow you to play a wide variety of games on this laptop too, though you'll need to dial down the settings if you want to achieve the high framerates that 144Hz display can deliver. Still, there are some drawbacks that keep me from recommending this laptop without reservation. The power cable is way too short, for one, which feels especially frustrating when the rest of the laptop's design is so good. The LG Gram 17 Pro's performance is also a little underwhelming compared to competitors of similar size and price. The configuration of Dell XPS 17 we tested last year, for example, can be yours right now for roughly the same price ($1,999) and it offers better performance (thanks to a more powerful CPU and more RAM) than the Gram 17 Pro. However, Dell's laptop has a lower-resolution screen, a lower-quality webcam and weighs nearly 2 pounds more. If you like macOS, Apple's 16-inch MacBook Pro is also a compelling alternative. While it costs more ($2,499 to start) and is heavier than the LG Gram 17 Pro, with a smaller screen, Apple's 16-inch Pro is much speedier, offers better battery life and better speakers. However, you won't be able to play as many PC games on the MacBook Pro unless you want to deal with the hassle of getting Windows-only games running in macOS. But for my money, you can't do better than the LG Gram 17 Pro if you want a discreet 17-inch Windows ultraportable that can do a bit of everything (work, gaming, content creation) you can take pretty much anywhere.

It’s hard to recommend a laptop with so many technical glitches. I trust that LG will get them fixed, but in the meantime, I’d be a bit wary. Regarding its performance, battery life, and display, the Gram 17 Pro is a solid laptop. It would be a great choice for multitaskers and light creators. Its keyboard is uncomfortable, though, and its touchpad is too small. And its chassis doesn’t have the same dense rigidity that I’ve come to expect from the best laptops. Given its premium price and its unreliable performance, this is one 17-inch laptop that you probably want to pass up for now.

Comparatively, the MacBook Pro 16 M2 starts at $2,500 and the Dell XPS 17 starts at $2,949, yet both ship with a smaller 512GB solid state drive. However, the Gram 17 would be better served by additional USB-A and USB-C connectivity, and a full-sized SDXC card reader. It looks and feels mundane, as well. Intel UHD Graphics 620: Встраиваемый в центральные процессоры Intel Kaby Lake Refresh графический процессор (GT2, 24 вычислительных ядра). Встраивается в 15-ваттовые процессоры. Очень схож с графикой из прошлого поколения процессоров, Kaby Lake, по имени HD Graphics 620.
Intel Iris Plus Graphics G7 (Ice Lake 64 EU): Видеопроцессор, встраиваемый в отдельные процессоры Intel архитектуры Ice Lake. i5-1035G7: Маломощный четырёхъядерный процессор на архитектуре Ice Lake. Ориентирован на тонкие и лёгкие ноутбуки, располагает четырьмя ядрами Sunnycove на частоте 1.2 - 3.7 ГГц. Поддержка Hyper Threading даёт возможность обрабатывать 8 потоков данных сразу. Этот процессор несёт в себе относительно быструю интегрированную графику Iris Plus G7, плюс поддержку Wi-Fi 6 и частично интегрированную поддержку Thunderbolt. Процессор изготавливается силами самой Intel на оптимизированном 10-нанометровом производстве (10nm+).

i7-1165G7: Четырёхъядерный процессор семейства Tiger Lake. Относится к среднему уровню производительности, ориентирован на тонкие ноутбуки; частота процессорных ядер при 28-ваттовом долговременном Power Limit равна 28 Вт, максимально достижимая частота при нагрузке на одно ядро = 4.7 ГГц. Встроенный графический процессор называется Iris Xe G7 (96 блоков EU). Рассматриваемый Core i7 изготавливается на 10-нанометровом производстве Intel во втором поколении и был вторым по производительности среди всех процессоров Tiger Lake подкласса UP3, когда Intel представила их в 2020 году.
