But, if you want power rather than portability, then the Raider really delivers the goods with impressive performance and a 240Hz display that immerses you with its smooth, realistic motion. The old-school design also means that the Raider spends its money where it counts, delivering impressive performance at a relatively competitive price for such a high-end gaming system.

The Raider GE78 is MSI’s more convincing gaming product of late and both looks and performs the part of a thoroughbred high-end gaming laptop. None of the typical MSI weaknesses such as poor battery life and suspect thermal management is in evidence. That makes the one serious blot on the GE78’s copybook – the absence of G-Sync and Advanced Optimus – all the more annoying. If those two features were present the 2023 Raider would be an unequivocal recommendation. Acer’s Predator Helios 16 is cheaper and offers a Mini LED option, while Medion’s Erazer Beast X40 offers strong competition and packs Advanced Optimus. The ROG Strix Scar 16 is perhaps the default choice if you’ve got £3,500 to splash on a gaming laptop but it is noisy under load. The Mini LED display is superb though. Not one of these machines is much less than excellent and all of them will provide a great gaming experience. It’s a testament to the MSI Raider’s quality that it can stand tall in such an illustrious company.

I enjoyed my time with this MSI Raider GE78 notebook and I expect this to be a worthy contender in its class of performance and gaming laptops. The excellent build quality and beautiful design, the full set of ports, the beautiful display, and the punchy audio are all reasons that could steer you toward this unit over other options. And then there’s the excellent performance in demanding loads and games, where this performed a little bit better than most of the other similar configurations we’ve reviewed (with some exceptions in CPU sustained loads). Overall, these add up and I think they affect the overall competitiveness of this series. In the end, though, you’ll be the judge of the overall worth of this series based on your needs and preferences, compared to the other options out there. But there are quite a few of those, including a handful of 18-inch laptops with a larger 18-inch display, arguably better cooling, lower prices, and still about the same size and weight as this 17-inch Raider. Furthermore, the 240Hz refresh rate has quick pixel response times. This ensures a really smooth image, even in fast-paced games. Now, how many laptops do you know that have a total of 6 USB ports? Well, this one does, and one of them is a Thunderbolt 4 connector. The absence of an SD card reader is disappointing, but not unexpected, given the history of Legion devices in recent years. All in all, the Legion Pro 7 (16″, 2023) is a really good gaming machine. As with every other laptop out there, it has its downsides, one of which is its price. However, it is probably the most down-to-earth-looking gaming notebook in this segment of the market.

Может ли ноутбук заменить десктоп: два месяца с MSI Raider GE78HX 13VI на RTX4090

MSI Raider GE78 – высокопроизводительный игровой ноутбук, который без проблем тянет на ультра-настройках все современные ААА-проекты. По сути – это полноценная замена десктопу, в нем достаточно портов для подключения практически 5-7 устройств, а в паре с Thunderbolt-хабом количество одновременно подключенных устройств возрастает до 10-15 штук. Ноутбук можно использовать как as is – 17-дюймовым экраном, и удобной клавиатурой от SteelSeries, так и в паре с большим монитором и внешней клавиатурой. Я тестировал оба сценария и оба сценария мне понравились. Тут каждый должен решить для себя сам, в какой конфигурации ему удобно использовать девайс, благо возможностей для кастомизации тут хватает. Можно ли рассматривать данный девайс для покупки на замену десктопу? Вопрос вашего бюджета и потребностей. Описанный выше девайс на момент выхода материала стоит в Украине в районе 200 тыс. грн.

Обзор ноутбука MSI Raider GE78HX 13VI-095RU: самая мощная модель из побывавших в нашей лаборатории

MSI Raider GE78HX 13VI-095RU — на момент тестирования самый производительный ноутбук из числа побывавших в нашей лаборатории, предыдущий лидер Maibenben X639 с внешней СЖО на вершине нашего Олимпа продержался недолго. Такие показатели достигнуты использованием топовых на сегодняшний день процессора Intel Core i9-13980HX и видеокарты Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop. Немного подводит разве что использованный накопитель SSD PCIe — он хорош, но до лучших образцов всё же не дотягивает, однако при необходимости можно поставить более производительный в свободный слот М.2 и перенести на него ОС, а имеющийся оставить для хранения данных. Конфигурация клавиатуры такая же, как и в других современных 17-дюймовых игровых ноутбуках MSI: с нормальными (лишь слегка уменьшенными по размеру) стрелками и цифровым блоком, пусть и трехрядным, с расположением Fn в правой части и выделенными «игровыми» клавишами WASD.

Недавно восемь ядер в мобильных устройствах было чем-то особенным, а теперь и 32-поточный процессор уже не в диковинку. То же можно сказать и о видеокартах и других компонентах. Конечно, размеры и вес не позволят лэптопам на равных соревноваться с обычными ПК своего уровня, но прогресс не стоит на месте и возможно скоро граница между портативными и настольными устройствами сотрется на столько, что останется только один. Пока что приходится выбирать по своим требованиям тот или иной класс продуктов. MSI Raider GE78 HX 13V как раз подходит на роль мощного, но мобильного устройства. Он на удивление выглядит маленьким, качественно выполнен и имеет интересный дизайн, который понравится молодежи, при этом не забыты и более взрослые пользователи, достаточно выключить RGB-подсветку.

Протестированный Raider GE78 HX 13V является самым быстрым игровым ноутбуком, побывавшим в тестовой лаборатории 3DNews. Тестирование показало, что ноутбучная GeForce RTX 4090, работающая на максимальной мощности, опережает бывший мобильный флагман — GeForce RTX 3080 Ti — на 35-40 %! Отличная прибавка производительности, на мой взгляд. При этом не стоит забывать, что серия графики GeForce RTX 40 имеет улучшения, недоступные для GPU прошлых поколений. В частности, речь идет о технологии DLSS 3.0, которая серьезно увеличивает кадровую частоту в играх и, соответственно, продлевает жизненный цикл любого графического устройства. А ноутбуки, в отличие от настольных ПК, устаревают заметно быстрее из-за невозможности самостоятельного апгрейда чипов.

We’re early into the 14th generation of Intel Core HX notebooks, but our benchmarks showed a clear delineation between 13th- and 14th-gen gaming notebooks, more than I expected. So far, we have two 14th-gen notebooks to compare between, the Asus ROG Strix and the MSI Raider GE78, and the latter is the clear winner. Add 32GB to it (and boy, I was tempted to ask for a full-fledged review unit, just to see what it could do) and it will shine. MSI’s 14th-gen GE78 HX 14VIG excels as a gaming laptop, with a number of admirable features that try hard to convince you to use it as an all-around machine. Gamers will care solely about the gaming performance, and the MSI Raider generally soars to the top of the heap. But I liked the Raider’s keyboard, even if the laptop’s size pushes it to the rear. A 1080p webcam? Not the best, but it’s a nice touch.

The notebook provides a high level of performance both in normal work tasks and in modern demanding games. In addition to high-performance components, the laptop has a good cooling system, cool gaming display and excellent sound. There are its own branded chips from the manufacturer in the form of MSI Center and True Colour. And for the implementation of backlighting and collaboration with SleelSeries a separate respect. From the disadvantages I can highlight only the package – the lack of an additional power supply, and then, for many, I think, this point is not critical, and it would be cool to add to the set of branded backpack for carrying. If you need a powerful gaming laptop, I highly recommend you to consider MSI Raider GE78HX 13VI-209UA as an option.

An additional problem considering "payment" is also the direct meaning of this word, because the official price tag of a model with such a configuration will sincerely surprise many people. For such an amount, you can assemble a good desktop and buy a decent portable laptop separately. However, having the necessary budget and the need for a powerful laptop, the customer should most likely be satisfied with working with such a "beast".
