What they lack, insofar as specifications are concerned, are the security features of the ThinkBook 13s like the TPM chip and webcam privacy shutter. If these security features are important to you, then the choice is clear. The Lenovo ThinkBook 13s is a compelling option given its price, features, and specifications. Lenovo is marketing the ThinkBook 13S as a business laptop with entertainment features. It looks great, durable, and portable. And given our experience with it, I think they’re right. It’s basically for work, meaning MS Office applications, emails, and web browsing. For entertainment, we’re narrowing it down to YouTube and Netflix. It would have been nicer though if they included an SD card slot.

My biggest issues with it are that there's no USB Type-C charging and that the audio is just OK. The good news about the charger though, is that if you hand them out to a team, you've got a bunch of these chargers lying around.

However, not need to lie here, the most flashy feature of the ThinkBook 13s is actually its look and the way it feels when handled. Its all-aluminum body hints at the premium nature of the device, while its matte finish is almost immune to fingerprints. In fact, the laptop kind of reminds us of the Lenovo Ideapad 730S, which is both thinner and lighter and proved to be a pretty decent piece of hardware, by the way.

There's great value in this ThinkBook 13s as a competitively-priced ultrabook for everyday use, for multitasking and school/office work. It looks nice and it's well built, gets a good matte screen and a decent keyboard, handles daily chores without chocking and lasts for quite a while on a charge. It's also one of the few user-upgradable ultrabooks of this generation. But don't expect this to offer ThinkPad features and traits at a fraction of the cost, as the two lines have little in common. ThinkBook 13s не радует скоростью работы. Режим максимальной производительности помогает решить проблему, но лишь отчасти, ведь процессорам Intel класса U далеко до нынешних AMD Ryzen. Дисплей этого ноутбука мы записали в его плюсы, а в минусы то, что почти все из внутренних компонентов не поддаются апгрейду.

The ThinkBook 13s is a sensible option for business users on a tight budget. For less than $1,000, you get a sleek aluminum chassis, fast performance, a high-res 13.3-inch display and a decent port selection. There are some downsides, like the shallow keyboard and card slot omission, but those can be resolved with accessories. If you can stretch your budget for a ThinkPad X1 Carbon, we recommend you do it. Lenovo's flagship is the best business laptop around for a reason. Not only is it lighter than the ThinkBook, but it has quad speakers, a much better keyboard and long battery life. But don't worry if you don't have the funds because the ThinkBook 13s Gen 2 makes for a nice alternative.

There are areas where the cracks show, of course. Battery life is underwhelming for the category, and the screen’s brightness is disappointing. You do get advantages, particularly when it comes to look and build quality, from ultraportables that are $200–$300 more. But there are certainly customers — especially in the business sphere, I imagine — who care more about having a portable, affordable device with decent connectivity than they do about having one that’s beautiful. For those people, this should be a fine choice.

It feels pretty clear cut that anyone who prefers battery life over consistent performance would be well suited with the AMD powered version of the ThinkBook 13s. That is not to say the performance on the 13s is poor, it's just a bit more erratic than the Intel P-Series counterpart. However, with both the Intel and AMD models of the ThinkBook 13s sitting on a desk, customers would be hard pressed to really notice a difference other than the price, which is also a consideration. At $851.80, and several discounts throughout the year, the ThinkBook 13s is a no brainer upgrade for anyone looking to venture beyond the typical ThinkBook aesthetic or a years old laptop. The last consideration for customers regarding the ThinkBook 13s is finding a model that actually has an AMD chip in it. As I am writing this review, AMD options are out at Lenovo.com, Best Buy and NewEgg, that may change in the coming weeks.

Lenovo:
Графические процессоры этой категории производительности справятся со многими играми, если не гнаться за максимальным разрешением и качеством картинки. Сравнительно умеренное энергопотребление таких GPU обеспечит увеличение времени автономной работы.
Intel UHD Graphics 620: Встраиваемый в центральные процессоры Intel Kaby Lake Refresh графический процессор (GT2, 24 вычислительных ядра). Встраивается в 15-ваттовые процессоры. Очень схож с графикой из прошлого поколения процессоров, Kaby Lake, по имени HD Graphics 620.
Intel Iris Xe G7 80EUs: Видеопроцессор, встраиваемый в некоторые процессоры Intel семейства Tiger Lake. Задействует графическую архитектуру Intel двенадцатого поколения, она же Xe. Располагает 80 кластерами унифицированных шейдеров (EU). Тактовая частота зависит от конкретной модели ЦП. Изготавливается на 10-нанометровом производстве Intel в его втором поколении.
