Acer Predator 8 – это на сто процентов домашний планшет. Выносить его из дома почти бессмысленно: в Интернет без точки доступа он выйти не сможет, камеры здесь для галочки, да и разряжается устройство очень быстро. С ролью же диванного гаджета гаджет справляется неплохо: на нем можно и кино без наушников посмотреть (звук у четырех динамиков весьма хорош), и в игрушки поиграть, – мощности хватает. Мы, честно говоря, не совсем поняли, почему за Acer Predator 8 просят 30-35 тысяч рублей. Гаджет за такие деньги должен быть идеальным (почти идеальным, с незначительными недочетами). Здесь же проблемы лежат в самых разных сферах, куда ни посмотри. На рынке есть более привлекательные предложения. «Хищника» же нужно не доработать – его нужно полностью переделать, с нуля. Увы.

Возможно, стоимость планшета Acer Predator 8 GT-810 около $480 не убедит многих в его покупке. Конечно, мощный процессор в связке с графикой потянет большинство современных задач, но далеко не каждая игра пойдет без проблем. Кроме этого, устройство не сможет похвастаться хорошей автономностью, например, в играх, это чуть больше трех часов. В остальном вряд ли возникнут вопросы. Например, в гаджете отличный дисплей с превосходным цветовым охватом и высоким уровнем яркости. Также завораживает оригинальное дизайнерское решение с четырьмя динамиками. Кстати, их звучание на высоте, так что приятное времяпровождение вам обеспечено. Субъективно, стоимость планшета явно завышена, поэтому приобретать устройство или нет решать как всегда вам.

Прямых конкурентов у Acer Predator 8 нет — никто уже давно не заморачивается на «узкой специализации» планшетов. Перед нами мощная и не отягощенная излишествами модель, разработанная с одной целью — «тащить» мобильные игры на высокой детализации графики в разрешении Full HD. Сложно отрицать, что премиальные смартфоны умеют всё то же самое не хуже, но ведь даже на громоздком фаблете детали игры будут довольно мелкими, а элементы управления — скученными, то ли дело на 8 дюймах.

The Acer Predator 8 has a really nice immersive feel when it comes to playing games, and this is in part down the haptic feedback provided by the inbuilt haptic engine. You could feel when the car was “boosted” and also when you crashed. It is a very similar experience to the Force feedback that you find on the PlayStation 4 controller, albeit toned down slightly and not quite as intelligent.

The Acer Predator 8 does a lot of things well. It’s a good size and weight and feels well made. Its front-facing speakers and display are particularly excellent, making it a great tablet for watching video. As a specific gaming tablet, however, it comes up short. There’s not much there specifically geared towards gamers. The haptic feedback is under-utilised. It has double the storage for the same price as the Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 but its actual gaming performance can’t hold a candle.

While I'm still not quite ready to suggest that any tablet has replaced the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet for "Most Versatile", this Predator 8 certainly takes the current crown for "Most Daring". Four front-facing speakers and a shape like no other tablet - not to mention aesthetic flare the likes of which we've only otherwise seen on the rest of Acer's Predator line of gaming PCs - all of this adds up to a very unique piece of work.

The Acer Predator 8 is a unique slate tablet with a design and specs catered specifically toward gamers. It has a good screen and smooth performance, while features like haptic feedback and quad speakers definitely help to enhance gameplay. That said, diehard gamers will find newer and higher-quality titles for the iPad mini. If you're looking to stick with Android, the Asus ZenPad S gets you a sharper display and slightly better battery life for the same price. The Galaxy Tab S2 is a more expensive option, but gets you top-notch hardware and one of the best tablet screens available. And while we haven't tested it yet, the Nvidia Shield K1 looks to be a solid bet, with gaming-geared hardware for $100 less than the Predator 8.

Acer Predator 8 is definitely an unusual device and we mean it in the positive way. Sadly, for the time being the unit we had is an engineering sample and we can’t perform all our tests on it, since some of its components don’t work as intended. Anyway we can add its four loudspeakers, as well as the vibration motors for more realistic gaming to the pros. The tablet a typical aggressive gaming design with combined various colors and materials in a unique-looking construction. It also boasts high performance with Intel’s Atom X7-Z8700 SoC with Intel’s HD Graphics GPU. Images appear detailed on the 8-inch screen and thanks to the IPS panel it has high maximum brightness, contrast ratio, rich and vivid colors and wide viewing angles. Last, but not least, we should mention that all the pre-installed applications and neat features, which Acer has included to the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, make the user experience even better.

The Acer Predator 8 is an interesting device since we've not really seen a gaming tablet like it. It's also a lot cheaper than rivals such as a Nvidia Shield. We're not sure about having four speakers due to the noisy show floor but we do really like the force feedback on offer. Just remember that it's still mobile gaming since the device runs Android. Great performance, comfortable keyboard, beautiful display, but how well does this Predator make its growl heard? Extremely well, in fact, as the sound on offer is fantastic, with strong and solid bass emerging from the notebook’s frame, thanks in no small part to the integrated 4.2 sound, consisting of two subwoofers. Watching Overwatch’s frenetic combat, and terrific animated short, was a pleasure, and whether watching movies or playing games, you can feel slight, but not overly distracting, vibrations through the keyboard.

There’s something so uniquely PC about that damn ejectable fan though. It’s nothing but a gimmick, but it’s a gimmick that captures the imagination—the modern-day equivalent of the old TURBO buttons you used to see on PCs. It feels good to pop out the superfluous optical drive and wing it into the corner of the room like a Frisbee, then slam an extra bit of cooling into the case. Who even cares that it barely does anything?

It costs close to AED 9550, which I would say is quite expensive for a gaming laptop. However, if you are looking for a replacement for you desktop, this is a good option. Acer has been long been associated with lower-end and mid-range devices, but in the last couple of years it proved that the high-end segment isn’t something new to the company and their latest top-shelf laptop, Predator G9-791, is the living proof. It has it all – stylish design, aggressive looks suitable for gamers, sturdy and rigid construction and beastly hardware. Speaking of which, it’s on par with some of the offerings from ASUS (ROG G751 in particular) Dell (Alienware). We are yet to see the asking price of the notebook, but we will make a wild guess that it will be priced little above ASUS ROG G751 and lower than the Alienware counterpart. Mainly because the storage upgrades on the Predator are somehow more expensive or premium, as we may say. While the G751 offers one M.2 SSD slot paired with two 2.5-inch SSD/HDD slots, the Predator has only one 2.5-inch slot and two M.2 SSD slots – one supports 2280 and the other supports 22110 standard.

Triton 700 оказался очень хорош. У ноутбука отличное качество сборки и оригинальный дизайн. Согласен, не всем придется по вкусу стеклянный некликабельный тачпад, однако игровой машине нужна качественная игровая периферия — я в этом твердо убежден. При активации WhisperMode устройство действительно работает тихо, хотя и заметно снижается общая игровая производительность ноутбука. Топовая конфигурация «Тритона» ближайшие несколько лет не нуждается в апгрейде. Единственным минусом этого ноутбука является его цена, так как конкурент предлагает схожее по функциональности, эргономике и производительности решение гораздо дешевле.

In any case, prepare to pay a little bit more for the extra features. The Predator 700 sells for around $3 000 at the time of writing this review while the ASUS ROG Zephyrus’ asking price is around $2 500 – 2 700. This positions both machines in a category of their own as laptops with GTX 1070 are considerably less expensive while GTX 1080 are huge 17-inchers charging a price premium. And if you are not really that into “portability”, you might be better off with a GTX 1070-powered laptop with a good cooling solution. Just a little overclocking will easily match the GTX 1080 Max-Q’s performance.

Thanks to the 120Hz G-Sync display on this notebook, you can actually utilize most of that performance—provided your eyeballs can actually register such high frame rates. That said, keep in mind the Max-Q graphics chip isn’t as fast as a standard GTX 1080. In our benchmarks, a standard GTX 1070 performed similarly to the GTX 1080 Max-Q. Однозначно такой ноутбук, как Acer Triton 700 – это наглядное пособие, как будут развиваться игровые устройства в ближайшем будущем. Тонкий и легкий, вместе с тем, мощный и функциональный, данный аппарат еще несколько лет будет оставаться актуальным, не требуя существенных доработок. Конечно, на данный момент цена просто сбивает с ног, но можно надеяться, что со временем ситуация изменится к лучшему. Так часто и бывает – разработка новых технологий, удешевление имеющихся позволяют надеяться, что в скором будущем такие аппараты станут более доступными.

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности практически не подходят дли игр, но справятся с самыми простыми делами, вроде отображения 2D-материала на экране умеренного разрешения.

Intel HD Graphics (Cherry Trail): HD Graphics (Cherry Trail) - мобильный графический ускоритель, интегрированный в процессоры Atom Cherry Trail.

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности справятся со многими играми, если не гнаться за максимальным разрешением и качеством картинки. Сравнительно умеренное энергопотребление таких GPU обеспечит увеличение времени автономной работы.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M:

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности способны на многое и подойдут для большинства игр, иногда даже при максимальных настройках и разрешениях. Чаще всего GPU "просто верхнего" уровня производительности расходуют заметно меньше энергии, чем самые-самые топовые и дорогие модели.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Max-Q: Видеокарта с высокой энергоэффективностью поколения Pascal (чип GP104) с 8 ГБ видеопамяти GDDR5X. Содержи 2560 шейдеров, производительность относительно полновесной GTX 1080 снижена на 10-15%, но энергопотребление гораздо ниже.
