Что ж, можно считать первые шаги компании Dell в завоевании планшетного Android-рынка весьма удачными. Герой сегодняшнего обзора – Dell Venue 7 настоящее тому подтверждение. Впрочем, сразу оговоримся, что любителей мощных гаджетов, которые способны «расправиться» с требовательными задачами, новинка, вряд ли заинтересует. Одним словом, разработчики компании Dell взяли правильный курс на выпуск бюджетных устройств, несмотря на то, что этот сегмент уже насыщен подобными гаджетами. Тем не менее, недорогие планшетные ПК типа Dell Venue 7 (в среднем, $185) всегда будут пользоваться большим спросом, чем их более дорогие собратья. Выбор за вами!

Планшет Dell Venue 7 WiFi показал хорошие результаты в тестах, но почему-то не это представляется самым важным в данной ситуации. По-настоящему радует то, что на рынок небольших семи-, восьмидюймовых планшетов на ОС Android снова выходит такой серьезный производитель, как компания Dell. Вне всяких сомнений — аппаратная часть обладает хорошей производительностью. Выскажемся осторожно — удовлетворительная продолжительность автономной работы при хорошей нагрузке. Но не менее интересным выглядят гарантии ремонта, возврата, технической поддержки от компании Dell в сочетании с расширением сети реселлеров-представительств Dell Partner Direct. Так что, поживем — увидим. Предположительная цена планшета Dell Venue 7 WiFi — 7000 руб.

At his price level even the first-generation Wi-Fi-only iPad mini is an alternative worth considering despite its age.

The $150 ASUS MeMO Pad 7 is more powerful and has a slick Zen UI interface, but it doesn't last as long on a charge. I’d suggest the 8-inch version of the Dell Venue over its 7-inch counterpart solely for the bump in the screen resolution and very slight upgrade in the front-facing camera. In either case, both tablets still give you bang for your buck, especially considering the poor performance of other sub-$200 tablets. Dell’s latest tablets are as solid as the low-end Android tablet market allows them to be. If you’re looking into a tablet with a low price tag, you’d be doing yourself a disservice by not looking into Dell’s update Venue lineup.

The Dell Venue 7 and Venue 8 are similar with only minor hardware differences. They run as expected once the Android updates are installed out of the box. Other than the strange display flashing in the Chrome browser, everything works as expected with the Atom processor. There are occasional stutters in performance, but these are not a deal killer. It is reminiscent of Android tablets in the early stages. It feels like Google needs to do some additional work on Android for Intel hardware.

The Venue 7 could have been a fantastic low-cost tablet. It costs just over half of what the similarly sized Google Nexus 7 (2013) does, making it a serious budget alternative. One significant advantage it has over the Nexus is its microSD card slot. It's also small and light enough to toss in a bag just in case it's ever needed. Unfortunately, the awful screen makes it hard for us to imagine ever using this tablet for reading or watching videos, which are two major use cases for smaller tablets. We don't mind the low resolution, but it's the visible grid pattern that really distracts us.

The Dell Venue 7 is an average tablet with an average display and average performance. It's a good buy if all you need is an Android tablet for basic apps, but other options exist. The $129 Nook HD$114.00 at Amazon has a higher-resolution display, though it won't play all the media files the Venue 7 will. The Venue 7 edges out both the HD 7$166.95 at Office Depot and Sero 7$129.00 at Walmart, but barely. If a tablet like the Nexus 7 is out of your price range, the Dell Venue 7 is worth a look.

Very few models come close for value; the Nexus 7's combination of a high-resolution 1,920x1,200 screen and a quick processor makes its stock version of Android a pleasure to use. With the launch of the Dell Venue 8 Android (not to be confused with the Windows 8.1 Venue Pro it looks like Google's all-conquering tablet may finally have some competition. At $149, the 7-inch model is a viable choice for an inexpensive tablet, but the case for the $179 8-inch model isn't as clear-cut. Amazon has a line of Kindle Fire tablets at similar prices that run Android apps and offer better performance. Barnes & Noble's Nook HD$114.00 at Amazon has a higher-resolution screen for $20 more. The king of 7-inch tablets, the Nexus 7$168.00 at Amazon, costs only $50 more. With so many other options available, the Venue 8 gets lost in the crowd. You probably won't miss it.

It's great to see a relatively affordable Windows 8 convertible with Intel Core CPUs, full size keyboards and fast SSD drives. The HP Split x2 brings novel and useful designs to a broader range of customers, and they've made a solid product. Obviously, even the $850 4th gen Core i5 model won't compete with high end Ultrabooks that have full HD displays and faster U series CPUs, but those cost $1,000 to $1,300 for Core i5 models.

The Dell Venue 8 Pro is certainly a capable tablet and coupled with a stand and keyboard it can be a capable budget laptop as well. It comes with a full version of Windows and the inclusion of Microsoft Office is a good bonus. At AED 1299 in some shops here in the UAE it’s not too far off similarly priced Windows tablets and definitely easier to handle than some.

The Dell Venue 8 Pro is certainly a capable tablet and coupled with a stand and keyboard it can be a capable budget laptop as well. It comes with a full version of Windows and the inclusion of Microsoft Office is a good bonus. At AED 1299 in some shops here in the UAE it’s not too far off similarly priced Windows tablets and definitely easier to handle than some.

The form factor makes it too small to be useful for any serious productivity work, while anyone looking for a consumer tablet for web browsing and watching videos is likely to prefer an iPad or Android device. That said, a device such as this could be viewed as a companion to a full size PC or laptop, which the price point of £249 is in keeping with. In this case, the bundled copy of Microsoft Office could prove useful.

For £250, it represents great value for money as a standalone tablet you are going to use for everyday tasks. We still have our niggling issues most of which are levelled at the operating system more than anything else. Until Microsoft sort out scaling issues for the traditional desktop mode, Microsoft Office is difficult to use without an additional keyboard. That means investing more pushing the price closer to £300 if you go for Dell's official option.

Bottom line here, the Dell Venue 8 Pro appears to be a decent value for the asking price. We do have to admit though, we struggled a bit to find a place where it truly fits in our work flow. Granted, that is just one specific person, so we have to discount that thought a little bit. If you are living in a Windows world, whether it be for work or pleasure, the Venue 8 Pro could be a viable alternative as compared to your basic Android or iOS tablet.

It fits easily in the hand, and is more portable than the 10-inch tablets we've seen up until now. It's got a much better screen than the muddy one on the 8-inch Acer Iconia W3, so it's easier on the eyes. That said, while recommended for ultramobile users who don't need a lot of local storage, the Dell Venue 8 Pro doesn't quite earn an Editors' Choice for two reasons: The Venue 8 Pro's base model is still a bit short on storage, and we haven't seen enough 8-inch Windows tablet competitors to unequivocally award the Venue 8 Pro an EC.

Ещё 10 лет назад я и подумать не мог, что полноценный компьютер с «настольной» Windows может весить всего 700-800 грамм. И что ему для работы не нужна будет ни мышка, ни клавиатура (хотя, с ними, конечно же, удобнее, но сама возможность радует). С покупкой Dell Venue 11 Pro и старый планшет на мобильной ОС и ноутбук лежат теперь дома без дела, на Venue 11 Pro получается и работать и развлекаться (фильмы, игры) и общаться с друзьями-коллегами. И всё это — одно устройство, которое можно носить всегда с собой!

В новоиспеченной линейке Venue, выпущенной компанией Dell, модель Dell Venue 11 Pro считается самой старшей. Впрочем, многие согласятся с тем, что она самая интересная, но в то же время и противоречивая среди новинок. Занимательная прежде всего тем, что укомплектована неплохим 10.8-дюймовым экраном, качественно собрана, стильно и современно выглядит. Мощность модели варьируется в зависимости от конфигурации, однако даже самая слабая начинка способна обеспечить стабильную работу в большинстве приложений. Однозначно радует возможность подключения док-станции, благодаря которой работать станет еще удобнее, а показатели автономности вырастут почти двое. К тому же, нельзя не отметить увеличение количества интерфейсов, а ведь это немаловажно.

I really like the Venue 11 Pro as a tablet, and especially as a laptop with the Travel Dock. Out of the 20-plus Windows laptops and hybrids I have tested, the Dell Venue 11 Pro is the best, by far. It’s just the right size as a tablet, and indistinguishable from a “real” laptop with the Travel Dock. Dell has nailed it perfectly.

The recommended UK retail price of £790 (US$1,049.99 in the US) for the i5-powered version, which is more expensive than both the Surface Pro 2 and comparable iPads. If you're looking for a device with which you can breeze through work without compromising on multimedia playback support then this has to be right up there. The Dell only falls down in a couple of areas. Its 2MP front camera is only suitable for Skype calls, and the 8mp rear shooter produces shots that are a little too dark for our liking. And, when it comes to audio, there's little to shout about: the Venue's stereo speakers have good volume but tinny high-hats and a muddy mid-range. The second battery pack available in the Venue's optional keyboard adds welcome longevity, and the Venue 11 Pro still works out at good value when compared to the Surface and its equivalent accessory. It's a versatile tablet that'll be at home in the office, but we'd still consider a similarly-sized Ultrabook if a keyboard was crucial.

If you just need a tablet, there’s no doubt Dell offers better deals: the £699 Core i5 model and £629 Core i3 version both come with 128GB of storage space and are both cheaper than the most affordable Surface Pro 2, which costs £719 but only has a 64GB SSD.

The Venue 11 Pro is a great concept, and we can truly imagine it finding a happy home in many a mobile worker's bag. Its replaceable battery is its ultimate selling point, and it performed very well in all the office tasks we threw at it. But questionable screen quality, odd keyboard dock design and the occasional software glitch tarnishes the experience somewhat and makes us question whether the device has the build quality to survive life in the real world.

Instead, the Venue 11 Pro’s main rival is Microsoft’s own Surface Pro 2, although the Surface Pro 2 costs almost twice as much as the Venue 11 Pro. If you fancy the Venue 11 Pro it might be a good idea to invest in the keyboard dock, as the touchscreen simply is best used for typing a quick email and web browsing rather than working on involved MS Office documents. Even so, for sheer flexibility, the Venue 11 Pro provides a good alternative to the Microsoft Surface Pro 2.

Spending that much will still get you a great tablet, like the Editors' Choice Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4Best Price at Amazon, but it's no longer required. The Dell Venue 8 (2014) comes in under the $200 mark and will serve up all your favorite videos in full HD. If you want a tablet that will do it all, the Venue 8 isn’t for you. this simply won’t stand up to a Galaxy Tab or Nexus 7 — but it’s not supposed to. Wireless charging and the larger screen are nice, and we really like the solid build quality, here. We saw about two days battery life with moderate use, so dedicated workhorses will probably see a day with this one.

Ultimately, though, the impressive benchmark scores don't tell the whole story – in everyday use, the crashing issues and laggy performance are difficult to forgive. Forthcoming system updates could yet transform the Dell Venue 8's appeal, but, unless gaming performance is an absolute priority, the Nexus 7 is a far better buy right now.

The Dell Venue 8 is a tablet that I really wanted to like. From the moment I unboxed it, it had a level of craftsmanship that I have seldom seen in other Android tablets. The aluminum casing is rigid and sturdy, which is a breath of fresh air compared to the flex that many plastic tablets exhibit. It's extremely thin, and it manages to be lightweight without going overboard and feeling like an empty demo unit.

Instead of the Dell Venue 8 7000, this should have been called "Dell - the world's thinnest tablet" to tell us more about all of its iPad-beating features. No, it doesn't match Apple's A8 chip with its unconventional use of a smaller Intel processor. That does make it slower than today's best tablets. When it comes to performance, the Dell Venue 8 7000 didn’t let me down, but it did make me question Intel’s placement. On more than one occasion, screens stuttered to do things they shouldn’t, or graphic performance just dips for unknown reasons. A parallax wallpaper, placed by default, doesn't move as smooth as it could. It kind of jumps to position once you've stopped moving the tablet. That's just one example of the processor not reacting as quickly to software as it probably should.

There's an awful lot to like about Dell's Venue 8 7000 tablet. The device delivers a stunning 8.4-in. screen in a compact and distinctive form. It's remarkably thin and light yet still extremely sturdy. It has snappy performance, respectable stamina and a clean and intuitive UI with some useful feature enhancements.

I'm very frustrated here, as the Dell Venue 8 7000 is one of those gadgets that doesn't deliver in person what it promises on paper. Yes, it's the most beautiful tablet available today. But the camera location is downright idiotic, the depth camera is a gimmick, Dell Cast hardly works, and the laggy performance doesn't show up in the specs or benchmarks.

So far, between the physical design, screen quality, web performance, and battery life, I'm really pleased with the Venue 8 7000. Unlike the Shield Tablet, it doesn't feel like a device that wants to do everything--be a gaming tablet, streaming box, digital notepad, etc. This is a beautiful device for content consumption, and as long as further testing shows that it doesn't noticeably suffer for running x86, it could be the best mobile device Dell has released in a long time.

With a longer-lasting battery (with the keyboard dock) and a better keyboard than the Surface Pro 3, the Venue 11 Pro 7000 is a compelling Windows 8.1 tablet. We also like the accurate digital pen (even though there's nowhere to store it) and versatile desktop dock, which lets you power two displays. We just wish the tablet ran a little cooler on the back.

At the $700 (£437 and AU$800) entry price, the Venue Pro 7000 offers a nice balance of performance and portability in a travel-friendly size. However, unless you find yourself accessing CPU and GPU taxing apps, you might find more value in an Atom-based convertible. Going with Atom will lower your cost and give you better battery life.

И в заключение — о стоимости новинки. На момент написания статьи планшета Dell Venue 11 Pro 7140 еще не было в розничной торговле в России. Если ориентироваться на цены, представленные на американском сайте компании, то стоит иметь в виду, что именно такой конфигурации, которая была у нас на тестировании, там не представлено. Модель с SSD-накопителем объемом 128 ГБ и 4 ГБ оперативной памяти стоит 929 долларов, то есть можно предположить, что наша конфигурация будет стоить порядка 1000 долларов. Но это цена в США. Сколько он будет стоить в России, пока нет данных, но скорее всего, цена не будет сильно отличаться от 1000 долларов. Стоимость док-станции, по данным американского сайта, составляет 80 долларов, а чехла-клавиатуры — еще 70 долларов.

Все лакомые кусочки предшественника Venue 11 Pro не только остались на месте, но и были дополнены более рациональным процессором Intel Core M. Однако нововведения в планшетах следующего поколения были оценены достаточно дорого – около $1200 за рассмотренную комплектацию. По такой цене и хороший ноутбук можно купить. Да и аксессуары нужно будет докупать отдельно, что выльется в весьма круглую сумму. В общем, приобретать или нет – это личное дело каждого, но то, что планшет достаточно хорош по всем параметрам – однозначный факт.

Недостатки также имеются, хоть они и не столь существенны. Самое большое разочарование – это камеры, которые, согласно позиционированию данного планшетного ПК, должны были наоборот стать его изюминкой. По факту, технология Intel RealSense оказалась не до конца продуманной, и фотографии получаются с некоторыми погрешностями. Возможно, в своих последующих моделях инженеры Dell и доведут данную фишку до идеала, но, пока что, это не совсем то, за что хотелось бы отдать $400.

о даже без дискуссии о рамках в планшете Dell много всего необычного. Основная камера дополнена еще двумя для определения расстояния до объекта и создания стерео снимков. Экран имеет QHD разрешение и выполнен по AMOLED технологии. Процессор – самый современный, а время работы для рекордной толщины в 6 мм – поразительное. Так что у Dell получился экспериментальный гаджет, но неудачным его назвать очень сложно. За инновации в системе из трех камер и минимальные рамки экрана планшет получает нашу награду.

Dell Venue 8 7840 — это прорыв для производителя, который ранее не выпускал на рынке Android-планшетов ничего выдающегося. Оригинальный, рекордно тонкий корпус, изготовленный с использованием металла. Матрица SuperAMOLED, которая практически не используется в планшетах. Отличная производительность и совместимость с играми. И, наконец, технология Intel RealSense, отличающая планшет ото всех конкурентов. Среди недостатков можно выделить отсутствие шаблонов цветокоррекции экрана и малый объем постоянной памяти.

There's no doubting that the Venue 8 7000 is a capable tablet with decent performance and a great looking display. The screen's good for watching TV and movies and the operating system's up-to-date. Battery life is very strong though – most consumers will find that the Venue 8 lasts approximately 2 days on a single charge, but excessive use will drain the battery before then. With general usage, a 2 day battery life is definitely achievable. It really is a great tablet overall, with the camera being the only major let-down. However, since tablets are not primarily used for their cameras anyway, it is not the end of the world.

Fancy camera aside, the Venue 8 7840 is an impressive tablet. In our tests, the tablet's screen was capable of displaying 100% of the sRGB colour gamut, and as it's an AMOLED model, blacks are truly black. The operating system feels like it’s just under your finger, and Android's icons and text look sharp, clear and vibrant. The screen isn’t as bright as other AMOLED displays we've seen, such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4's, with a maximum brightness figure of 262cd/m2 compared to 297cd/m2 for the Samsung.

The Dell Venue 8 7840 is a really, really nice tablet. It's got a very pretty screen, and the high-quality form factor is frankly gorgeous. There are a few issues with the irritating bezels and camera placement, but aside from that, we can't really find anything to complain about. The internals are all fairly top-notch, and the Intel Atom processor makes them absolutely fly.

The slim design grabs headlines but doesn’t make a big difference in real-world use, and the off-centre style helps and hinders in equal measure. And then there's Android. Google's mobile OS is great for phones and media consumption devices, but when compared with Windows tablets in terms of real productivity and split-screen multitasking, it just doesn't measure up right now.

It's also sufficient for use as a laptop if you purchase the optional keyboard dock. While Dell doesn’t have any UK pricing on their website, the prices of keyboard docks for older Dell tablets indicates that it may be over £150.

For the price you pay for the tablet, the Venue Keyboard and the Active Stylus, the 5055 offers a deal, just one that you'll have to treat with kid gloves. When you take a risk on a low-end device, you sometimes expect to be penalized for it down the road. As long as you make sure to take care when connecting power, and to give a firm hand when docking to the keyboard, the 5055 should be a good solution for your student's needs.

Bottom line, if I was reviewing the Venue 10 7000 strictly for its hardware and design, it would achieve our highest award status. As delivered however it is a flawed product due to the relatively poor battery life, underwhelming SoC performance from the Atom Z3580, and of course the mixed experience of Android as a tablet OS. Still, there's enough good to warrant a recommendation, though I highly recommend a demo first if you aren't sold on the Android tablet experience.

When I reviewed the Venue 8, my main point of comparison was the Google Nexus 9. While the iPad Air and iPad Mini 3 should also be considered, for someone who really wants an Android device the Nexus 9 was the clear alternative. I ultimately concluded that the Nexus 9 was a better device for your money, even if the build quality was not near as good as the Venue 8.

В планшете есть много чего, что пригодится для работы, причем производитель упоминает даже производственные предприятия. Не слишком ли громкое заявление? Начнем с характеристик экрана: он получил Full HD-разрешение и IPS-матрицу, поэтому пользователь по достоинству сможет оценить насыщенную цветопередачу и качественное изображение. Также в девайсе неплохая начинка, богатый набор интерфейсов и хорошие автономные показатели.

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности практически не подходят дли игр, но справятся с самыми простыми делами, вроде отображения 2D-материала на экране умеренного разрешения.

Imagination PowerVR G6400:

Четырехкластерный видеоускоритель с поддержкой OpenGL ES 3.0 и DirectX 10.

Intel HD Graphics (Bay Trail): Видеопроцессор, встраиваемый в процессоры Intel семейства Bay Trail (ориентированы на планшеты и ноутбуки). Архитектурно схож с видеопроцессорами из процессоров Intel семейства Ivy Bridge. Располагает 4 блоками EU, совместим с DX 11.

Imagination PowerVR G6430: Четырехъядерный видеоадаптер для ARM-чипов, поддерживающий OpenGL 4.x и ES 3.0.

Intel HD Graphics (Cherry Trail): HD Graphics (Cherry Trail) - мобильный графический ускоритель, интегрированный в процессоры Atom Cherry Trail.

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности совершенно не подходят для игр. Скорее всего, даже в повседневных делах пользователь столкнётся с ограничениями, такими, как отсутствие аппаратного декодирования видео или невозможность подключения монитора с актуальным разрешением.
