The combination of strong performance, excellent battery life, a superb sound system, and a good display for under £800 (currently a lot under) is a hard combination to ignore. Granted, the price creeps up a bit when you add a keyboard and pen, and charger, but you will then have a tremendously useful, versatile, and compact Windows device.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 12 is a good, solid laptop/tablet hybrid. It’s got enough power for everyday tasks, excellent battery life and a smart design. The display, while not OLED, is very good, and the kickstand remains one of my favourite design features on any tablet. However, this latest Surface shares many of the same issues that have plagued the series. While it’s great that the starting price is less than the MacBook Air M4 at £799/$799, you’ll need to spend more on the keyboard cover to make this a usable device. An iPad Pro M4 is a great tablet with or without a keyboard added, whereas Windows 11 still needs to be controlled with a trackpad or mouse to get the most from it.The design is a little uninspiring with those chunky screen bezels, and many of the AI features remain underbaked. This is a good entry-level Surface Pro that’d make a great student companion – it’s just not a true successor to the Surface Pro 11.

The comparison between the 13-inch and 12-inch models is an interesting one, because the bigger model has an OLED screen, better performance, and an actual charging adapter (this 12-inch model only has a USB-C cable), while not costing a whole lot more: $200 at the time of writing. Of course, you may value portability above everything else, in which case get the smaller one. If you've got an older Surface Pro and are thinking about upgrading, your choice isn't an easy one. It really depends how old your existing model is and how happy you are with its current levels of performance.

Qualcomm Adreno X1-45 1.7 TFLOPS: Интегрированный графический адаптер, которым оснащен 8-ядерный процессор Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 SoC. По сравнению с более быстрыми iGPU X1-85 с тактовой частотой 3,8 TFLOPS и 4,6 TFLOPS, этот не просто работает на более низкой тактовой частоте, но и имеет в своем распоряжении меньшее количество унифицированных шейдеров, наиболее вероятное число которых - 768. Как сообщается, базовая архитектура не сильно отличается от той, что использовалась в Adreno 730. Что касается игровой производительности, то ее вполне достаточно для игр до 2020 года в таких разрешениях, как HD 720p, при низких настройках графики.
Графические процессоры этой категории производительности справятся со многими играми, если не гнаться за максимальным разрешением и качеством картинки. Сравнительно умеренное энергопотребление таких GPU обеспечит увеличение времени автономной работы.

SD X Plus X1P-42-100: Относительно доступная система-на-чипе с архитектурой ARM для использования в ноутбуках под управлением Windows, дебют которой намечен на 4 июня 2024 года. По слухам, X1P-42-100 будет иметь 8 ядер процессора Oryon (8 P-ядер, 0 E-ядер), работающих на пока неизвестной тактовой частоте не менее 3 ГГц. На борту, скорее всего, будут находиться графический процессор Adreno с производительностью 3,8 TFLOPS, 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU, впечатляюще быстрый контроллер памяти LPDDR5x-8448, поддержка USB 4.0, TB 4 и PCIe 4. В этом чипе X Plus не используется та же матрица, на которой основаны X1P-64-100, X1E-78-100, X1E-80-100, X1E-84-100.
