The point that I keep coming back to, and the reason that I love the ThinkPad X1 Nano so much, is because just a year ago, this combination simply wasn’t possible. Up until this year, if you wanted a laptop this thin and light, you had two choices: You had to settle for an Intel Y-series processor or a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Both have compromises. With Tiger Lake UP4, it seems like there are no meaningful compromises left. I’d still say that the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano is good for working on the go, though. If you’re looking for something to park at a desk, get a desktop or a beefier laptop. This is something you’ll bring with you, and then when you get home, you can use a single-cable solution to plug it into a Thunderbolt dock. The ThinkPad X1 Nano is definitely one of my favorite laptops on the market right now, although frankly, all of Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 laptops are killing it this year.

If you need a laptop as light as possible for work, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano is a pretty solid option. You get reliable performance, good build quality, lengthy battery life, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, supports USB-C PD charging, one of the lightest laptops around, punchy colours with good viewing angles for the display, useful TrackPoint, fingerprint scanner is both fast and reliable, comfortable spill-resistant keyboard, and added security measures like ThinkShutter. However, the port options mean you most likely need to have a USB hub to expand its potential, it lacks touchscreen support, the body stains rather easily, and it’s pricey at RM6,749.57. I personally like this more than the ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 I reviewed previously and if this one had touchscreen capabilities, I would give it a Gold. At the end of our Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano review, I award this laptop with our Silver Pokdeward.

If you need a laptop as light as possible for work, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano is a pretty solid option. I personally like this more than the ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 I reviewed previously and if this one had touchscreen capabilities, I would give it a Gold. At the end of our Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano review, I award this laptop with our Silver Pokdeward.

Its larger sibling has proven itself as the best business laptop for several years running, which leaves one question for the X1 Nano: What corners were cut to make an ultrathin laptop even more portable? It turns out, very few. The X1 Nano has all the design elements — soft-touch carbon and magnesium materials with military-grade durability — and security features — an IR camera and fingerprint sensor — you find on larger ThinkPad models. It even retains the rubber pointing stick and discrete top clickers, although I wish they'd been replaced for a larger touchpad. Overall, the ThinkPad X1 Nano is a compelling ultra-portable laptop for professionals or everyday consumers. If you've wanted a smaller X1 Carbon, this is it. However, if, like me, you feel the X1 Carbon is portable enough, and prefer the larger display, then stick with what already works.

This shares a number of design cues with the X1 Nano, including magnesium construction, a limited number of ports and a 13-inch screen. It has a shorter battery life, though. To be fair, that is partly thanks to the inclusion of a 4K screen in our review unit: the option with the 2K screen has better battery life, but still less than the X1 Nano.

And if you require Windows for work, the Dell XPS 13 is currently a better value, especially for those who aren't bothered by slim keyboards. If you see the X1 Nano for a similar price, you should definitely consider it—you'll just have to decide whether the superior keyboard and lighter weight are worth the tradeoff in battery life. Even for a ThinkPad fanboy like me, that's a tough call.

Most people don’t need to spend over $3,000 on a laptop, and those that do probably aren’t buying one of these ThinkPads. However, at the reduced price, I’d say these laptops are totally worth it. Intel’s EVO platform really shines on Lenovo’s X1 Nano hardware plain and simple. I know Intel makes its own reference hardware to showcase the benefits of its latest chips set but it really should just parade around the X1 Nano. The beautiful anti-gloss 16:10 panel offers amazing viewing angles and a sense of ease for those who might be OCD about fingerprint oil smudges gathered by the screen pressing against the keyboard. The engineering teams should also take a victory lap for constructing a super lightweight device with the battery and performance familiar with other ThinkPads. If and when people are commuting on regular basis, the X1 Nano’s lightweight footprint should be fully appreciated by users. Beyond the build and performance, I’m most impressed with the battery life. After an avalanche of Apple MacBook M1 coverage praising the extended battery life of that laptop, it’s nice to see PC users quietly get a device that can compete on many of the same markers.

The beautiful anti-gloss 16:10 panel offers amazing viewing angles and a sense of ease for those who might be OCD about fingerprint oil smudges gathered by the screen pressing against the keyboard. The engineering teams should also take a victory lap for constructing a super lightweight device with the battery and performance familiar with other ThinkPads. If and when people are commuting on regular basis, the X1 Nano’s lightweight footprint should be fully appreciated by users. Beyond the build and performance, I’m most impressed with the battery life. After an avalanche of Apple MacBook M1 coverage praising the extended battery life of that laptop, it’s nice to see PC users quietly get a device that can compete on many of the same markers.

There were days when I just tossed the laptop in my backpack and forgot if it was in there or not – you really don’t feel its weight when you’re carrying it in your backpack. Yes, there are some shortcomings. We would have loved to see some more ports on the laptop, at least a USB-A or an additional USB-C port on the right-hand side, and maybe the heat dissipation could have been better. And, yes an SD card slot has become an essential in laptops, especially for one that costs as much as the X1 Nano does. The performance and feature sets that are exclusive to ThinkPads, however, do make up for some of the shortcomings. As a pure work-specific ultraportable laptop, though, there’s hardly anything out there that beats the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 2, especially when you consider that gorgeous screen, and that awesome keyboard.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 3 is hardly an exciting laptop. It’s got the same black and red color scheme as every ThinkPad before it. It still has a TrackPoint pointer stick in the middle of the keyboard and discrete buttons on the trackpad. It may just be the least interesting laptop you could ask for. But that’s kind of the draw. The ThinkPad X1 Nano is an ultraportable business laptop designed to work well in any environment and keep your data secure while doing so. The hardware is perfectly serviceable for its use case and the understated design is perfect for taking to business meetings because it easily blends into the background. The only disappointments with the third generation of the Nano are the lack of ports, the small trackpad (which is at least a bit larger than the original), and the tinny audio. But if you need a powerful ultraportable laptop, you could do far worse than the ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 3.

We especially love the premium design, which mixes space-age materials to produce a surprisingly rugged ultralight portable without skimping on business features or the hands-on experience. The Nano does drop some ports that will be missed by many, and we wish its battery life was longer, but these are reasonable compromises to make for extreme portability. If you want a featherweight laptop that's still a workhorse for office or travel, you could do a lot worse than the ThinkPad X1 Nano. Regardless, its slightly heavier cousin the X1 Carbon remains our business ultraportable pick, offering more ports and screen options and better features with only a few more ounces in weight.

All this brings me to maybe the biggest knock I have with this laptop, namely Lenovo's insistence on sticking with the Intel P-series mobile processors rather than the more energy efficient U-series for the X1 Nano. What you're going to be able to do on this laptop could easily have been achieved with a comparable U-series chip and it could have helped stretch the rather svelte battery a little bit farther. Still, those complains aside, the only other negative of note is that this is still a pretty expensive device for what it ultimately is: a productivity machine. Given that competing laptops for business users can get comparable performance for less and not have to really give up too much in the portability category means this is really best for those who value the portability of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 3 over every other consideration. For that, though, you'll be hard pressed to find better just about anywhere.

The sheer portability of this Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is amongst the best out there. This is not only super light, but also well built – a combination rarely found. It’s also very quiet and a fine performer when running light tasks such as web surfing and typical office apps. This is nonetheless low-power laptop, though, and won't last for very long on a charge either, due to its small battery. But if you're looking for a lighweight daily driver and aim for a mid-level configuration, this might be a fair-value option for you.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 3 won't flip the script on lightweight workstations — the Gen 1 did so already — but it's an evolution on a winning formula. It's still easy to throw into a briefcase (a gentle slide will suffice, though), it won't weigh you down (even though it's gained a bit of weight with each successive generation), and it'll handle all of the tasks you ask of it. The 13th-gen Intel Core i7 and excellent touchscreen are a couple of the features that'll make work seem like fun for the power user on the go, which is who this laptop is for in the first place. There are few competitors to the ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 3, mainly the Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 and the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1. The former beats it on price by around $100, though it also has a 256 GB SSD. The latter, meanwhile, starts at $1,399 and packs a 1 TB SSD, but makes do with a 12th-gen Intel Core i7.

The X1 Nano is both small and light yet it still offers an excellent keyboard and speedy processor performance. Battery life is the laptop’s most serious flaw, and it could prove a problem if travel often leaves you without access to a power outlet. If you can work around that problem, though, the X1 Nano will prove a capable, portable machine.

Although its design hasn’t changed and seems a bit dated to me, and its battery life is poor, there’s a lot to like about the ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 3. It performs well and will keep up with demanding productivity workers, and it’s incredibly light and comfortable to carry around. Its display was pleasant to use as long as I wasn’t too worried about really wide colors, which as a writer I’m not. I’ll give it a recommendation, primarily based on its light weight. And certainly, traditional ThinkPad lovers will gravitate toward the laptop. Just note that there are several other good options to consider, including the Dell XPS 13 Plus that feels a lot more modern.

Intel Iris Xe G7 96EUs: Видеопроцессор, встраиваемый в некоторые процессоры Intel семейства Tiger Lake. Задействует новую архитектуру 12 поколения, располагает 96 кластерами унифицированных шейдеров. Максимальная частота разная в зависимости от конкретного ЦП. Изготавливается Xe Graphics G7 на 10-нанометровом производстве Intel во втором поколении.

i7-1160G7: Четырехъядерный процессор семейства Tiger Lake для тонких и легких ноутбуков

Intel Alder Lake-P:

i7-1280P: Самый мощный, на середину 2022 года, процессор семейства Alder Lake класса P. Предназначен для тонких (но активно охлаждаемых) ноутбуков, располагает 6 производительными ядрами с поддержкой Hyper-Threading и 8 экономными ядрами без Hyper-Threading, в сумме = 20 потоков. Частота процессорных ядер меняется в пределах 1.3...4.8 ГГц и есть полная ("Enterprise") поддержка функций vPro, в том числе, дистанционного управления ноутбуком. i7-1260P: Процессор для тонких ноутбуков с активным охлаждением. Располагает 4 производительными и 8 экономными ядрами с частотой работы в пределах 1.5...4.7 ГГц. Входит в семейство Alder Lake, подкласс P, номинальное энергопотребление = 28 ватт, максимальное = 64 ватта. Функции vPro поддерживаются на уровне "Essentials" (без возможности дистанционного управления ноутбуком). Встроенный графический адаптер, Iris Xe с 96 блоками EU, остался тем же, что был в предшествующих процессорах (Tiger Lake UP3).
