Overall, the XPS 12 performed well in our benchmark tests. It earned the top spot in the PCMark benchmark which measures a system's overall performance and responsiveness. In real-world usage, the system performed well and felt very quick overall. Battery life is a bit of a disappointment with the XPS 12, however. Since the battery is not user replaceable, don’t expect to get a full day's worth of work from the machine without a nearby power source.

While it does have a very good feature set, behind the fancy new rotating screen, it’s a very average performing notebook. The hybrid nature of the device is fun to use, but we’re sure that the novelty will wear off after a while. The Windows 8 store has still a long way to go in terms of Windows apps and until that happens, traditional desktop applications will still rule—and you don’t need a fancy touchscreen to use them.

The screen's full HD resolution (1920x1080) has tons of space to use two windows side by side or look at high-res pictures and video in exquisite detail. And if you don't want to use the tablet mode, the XPS 12's backlit keyboard and clickpad are fantastic.

Overall we are very impressed with the Dell XPS 12 Convertible Ultrabook. In terms of the design and functionality, it is actually quite unique. Dell have clearly pulled out all the stops in terms of the design of the XPS 12. The screen mechanism is very innovative and the quality of the materials used in construction are some of the best we have seen from a Dell machine. Even though the XPS 12 is a compact notebook, Dell have still managed to shoe-horn in an Intel i7-4500U processor – a fairly potent low voltage design. We are impressed with its performance in this system, even without a dedicated graphics card. It should provide more than enough power for the majority of users.

Its weight could also cause some concern if you plan on using the XPS 12 as a tablet more often than an ultrabook as tablets are known to be ultraportable mobile devices. The XPS 12 would be better suited to someone who wants an ultrabook who also wants the option of being able to use their notebook as a tablet every so often when they just want to do some couch surfing. If you’re looking for a Windows 8 tablet that can sometimes be used as an ultrabook, then you may want to take a look at the Microsoft Surface.

Познакомившись с новым Dell XPS 12 9250, мы в итоге нашли ответ на вопрос, заданный первоначально в названии материала. Практичный гибрид? Нет. Установив в устройство 4K-дисплей, компания Dell добавила одно достоинство, но вместе с тем получила несколько дополнительных недостатков. Безусловно, таким дисплеем можно заманивать на свою сторону пользователей, приобретающих новинки ради их технических характеристик, или просто адептов Retina-экранов, желающих никогда не видеть отдельные пиксели даже на расстоянии в 10-15 см. Но так ли это важно при столь небольшой диагонали и наличии хорошего стекла, добавляющего картинке «кристальную чистоту»? Многие потребители будут рады и обычному Full HD, и мы их в этом поддерживаем.

By far, though, the most impressive part was the quality of the display and the stylus. To say that drawing and writing on the XPS 12 was a pleasure is a complete understatement. The tablet provided one of the best digital drawing experiences I've ever had with a consumer tablet; this could absolutely be a digital artist's main drawing tablet, and I can't imagine they'd find a single thing to complain about. If you frequently take handwritten notes, as well, you'll love the XPS 12.

The killer blow for the XPS 12, though, is the sheer quality of the competition. If you have anywhere between $1,300 and $2,000 to spend then there are many other devices more worthy of your cash. Given that you can pick up the Core m3-powered Surface Pro 4 with the Type Cover for $1,549, I fear the XPS 12 is dead in the water. Sorry, Dell, but this time it’s back to the drawing board.

Dell:

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности справятся лишь с самыми простыми играми, больше подходя для простых дел - просмотра видео в Сети и обработки документов. Плюсом можно считать скромный нагрев и расход энергии.

Intel HD Graphics 4000: Видеопроцессор, встраиваемый в некоторые центральные процессоры Intel семейства Ivy Bridge. Поддерживает DirectX 11, располагает 16 блоками EU, изготавливается на 22-нанометровом производстве. Располагает разной максимальной Boost-частотой в зависимости от конкретной модели центрального процессора, что заметно влияет на производительность.

Intel HD Graphics 4400: Низковольтная видеокарта класса GT2 с 20 исполнительными устройствами, встроенная в некоторые процессоры Intel семейства Haswell.

Intel HD Graphics 515: Графический адаптер, установленный в энергоэффективных мобильных процессорах Intel Core M поколения Skylake.
