If you can find the Vivobook 15 with the IPS display option, even if the price is closer to £600, then it’s an immediate and unqualified recommendation because everything else is impressive for the money, from the keyboard to the speakers, to the Wi-Fi 6E modem and from the design and build to the user-upgrade options. But the simple fact is that the thing you use the most on a laptop is the screen, so it has to be up to snuff, and the TN panel on this Vivobook 15 simple is not. The situation is not made any easier by Asus’ confusing product offering. All told, there are 5 versions of the Vivobook 15 X1504 available in the UK with either Core i5 or Core i7 processors and ranging in price from £459 (as tested but with the i5-1235U CPU and 8GB of RAM) to £800 for the Core i7 model. However, it’s nigh-on impossible to determine which is the TN or the IPS display.

But in our opinion, the display is just as important as any other factor of the machine. Sometimes, it is even more crucial – especially when we talk about OLED displays. ASUS Vivobook 15 OLED (X1505)’s OLED panel has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and an infinite contrast ratio. This produces true blacks, which are really pleasing to the eye. In addition, the full DCI-P3 color coverage makes the image vibrant. Interestingly, the 15-inch model comes with a larger battery than the 16-inch one – 50Wh vs 42Wh. But still, the port selection lacks an SD card reader and a USB Type-C port that can be used for something more than data transfer.

Intel Iris Xe G7 80EUs: Видеопроцессор, встраиваемый в некоторые процессоры Intel семейства Tiger Lake. Задействует графическую архитектуру Intel двенадцатого поколения, она же Xe. Располагает 80 кластерами унифицированных шейдеров (EU). Тактовая частота зависит от конкретной модели ЦП. Изготавливается на 10-нанометровом производстве Intel в его втором поколении.
Графические процессоры этой категории производительности справятся со многими играми, если не гнаться за максимальным разрешением и качеством картинки. Сравнительно умеренное энергопотребление таких GPU обеспечит увеличение времени автономной работы.
