It should have adorned this website the very first week in January, but thanks to the joys of Brexit, the device got stopped by customs, ended up back in London and eventually arrived in my hands safely towards the end of March. Headline features are a 108MP main camera and a large 5300mAh battery that should last most users two days.

The wobbles in the camera department and mediocre performance take some of the shine off the Honor Magic 6 Lite but they aren’t drastic enough drawbacks to dull it completely. Even the limited software support, which is by far my strongest criticism, is ultimately overshadowed by the level of quality you’re getting for your money here. Battery life is terrific, the display is big, bright and beautifully represented and the design has a style well above its pay grade. Even the main camera, which is admittedly weighed down by lacklustre backing dancers, delivers effective improvements over its predecessor. For an affordable mid-range handset with the looks and stamina of a pricier phone, the Honor Magic 6 Lite is a real charmer.

The Honor Magic 6 Lite offers a lot for its asking price, and the fact that it looks the part sweetens the deal further. You get more RAM and storage than most brands offer at this price point, a lovely display with high-frequency PWM dimming, a mammoth battery and a solid primary camera. It’s not perfect, though. The poor video performance and lacklustre auxiliary cameras are disappointing, and the same goes for the outdated operating system and slow charging speeds. Middle-of-the-road graphical performance will be a turn-off for keen gamers, too. If the camera performance is a high priority, you’ll have a better time with the Google Pixel 7a, which can be had for about £30 more at the time of writing. However, you won’t get quite such an impressive display, and you’ll be halving the storage. If display quality and battery life are high priorities, the Honor Magic 6 Lite is hard to beat at this price.

I've been testing the budget-friendly Honor Magic 6 Lite as my full-time phone for several days and yes, the software isn't great while the experience can be buggy. However, the battery life is sublime, you can game on Genshin Impact and that screen is a stunner. This smartphone can be yours from Jan 10th for a price of £349 UK. Those specs and the camera haven't massively changed vs the older 5 Lite, but Honor has boosted the battery size and no complaints on longevity. Although the charging speeds are now slower, bizarrely.

The Magic 6 Lite isn’t an awful lot different from last year’s Magic 5 Lite – but seeing how that was quite the bargain, I don’t think that’s a bad thing in the slightest. Honor has refined what was already a rather sharp looking smartphone into something that could easily be mistaken for a much more expensive device. Battery life is exceptional for the cash, and that lead camera is impressively detailed. However, not changing things up also means a few returning issues. I still don’t see the point in adding a macro camera, Honor’s software update commitments are basic, and gaming still isn’t a strong point, even among affordable phones. And are curved edge screens really still the status symbol they once were, now Google and Samsung have ditched them from their flagships? That said, Honor has managed to avoid cost of living increases better than many rivals. The Magic 6 Lite is considerably cheaper than a Google Pixel 7a. That alone could still make it a great choice for anyone on a modest budget.

Рекомендую ли я Honor Magic6 Pro к покупке? Да, конечно. Но. Когда у человека, который разбирается смартфонах (или в кофеварках, или в автомобилях, или в коньяках), вдруг спрашивают, какой смартфон (кофеварку, автомобиль, коньяк) он может порекомендовать, он обязательно в ответ поинтересуется у спрашивающего его бюджетом. Без знания бюджета вопрос просто не имеет смысла. Так рекомендую ли я Honor Magic6 Pro к покупке? Да, конечно. Если вы готовы потратить на смартфон более ста тысяч рублей.

Обзор смартфона HONOR Magic6 Pro: битва за первенство

HONOR Magic6 Pro как камерофон не поражает воображение какими-то экстраординарными фокусными расстояниями, но все равно умудряется удивить — зум-камера с менее чем трехкратным зумом снабжена перископическим объективом и сенсором с совершенно нестандартным разрешением в 180 мегапикселей. Но цифры и какие-то технические решения — не главное. Гораздо важнее, что по фотосъемке это очевидный шаг вперед относительно и так выдающегося Magic5 Pro. Повторю здесь то, что говорил в предварительном обзоре: мне сложно так с лету подтвердить или опровергнуть первое место в рейтинге DxO Mark (для этого нужен как минимум сравнительный тест основных флагманов, который мы постараемся организовать в обозримом будущем), но в том, что HONOR Magic6 Pro определенно будет среди лучших, — сомнений нет.

Все эти манифестанты уже поменяли своё мнение и даже вида не подают, какое оно у них было раньше. И мне кажется, что секта «отключаю ИИ в камерах смартфонов, фотографирую только в натуралочку» падёт следующей. А вот смартфоны наподобие Magic6 Pro будут только набирать обороты. Потому что доля пользователей Pixel и iPhone в сравнении с китайскими флагманами как-то не растёт, а совсем наоборот.

У Honor Magic6 Pro очень много конкурентов. Начиная с мастодонтов в лице Apple и Samsung, заканчивая китайскими гигантами — OPPO, vivo. Все стоят примерно одинаково. Но вот что зацепило именно в Magic6 Pro. eSIM есть, водозащита и практичный корпус — тоже на месте. Докопаться до Honor Magic6 Pro не получается. Кроме, пожалуй, цены — она высокая. Но в то же время такая же, как и у других флагманов 2024 года. А то и дешевле некоторых — например, Galaxy S24 Ultra. При этом Magic6 Pro во многом интереснее, инноваций — вал, за что смартфон и получает от редакции Hi-Tech Mail.ru сразу две награды «Инновация» и «Hi-Tech рекомендует».

Honor Magic 6 Pro – это флагманский смартфон, предлагающий впечатляющее аппаратное обеспечение, инновационные функции и элегантный дизайн. Нельзя не восхититься его потрясающим OLED-дисплеем и внушительной системой камер. Кроме того, долговечный аккумулятор и плавная работа подтверждают, что этот аппарат является отличным выбором по соотношению цены и качества. Есть области, в которых можно внести улучшения, например, программное обеспечение и отсутствие зарядного устройства в комплекте. Однако в целом Honor Magic 6 Pro трудно превзойти.

The Honor Magic6 Pro Display put in a top-scoring performance, with an all-around excellent user experience in all our use cases, particularly in gaming. The Magic6 Pro’s readability was overall excellent in all lighting environments, with a steady and reliable performance. While the maximum brightness did not reach the same levels attained by some of the Magic6 Pro’s competitors, the screen was consistently and comfortably readable in all conditions – not too bright in low-light or dark conditions and not too dark when outdoors to affect the user experience. Additionally, the outdoor brightness level remained consistent for all types of displayed content, which is not the case for most competitors’ devices, whose display luminance decreases as white areas on the screen increase. Although the device appeared uniform in our test, a faint striped pattern was visible on the screen when room or background conditions turned dark.

Honor Magic 6 Pro ticks plenty of boxes in its bid to woo consumers away from the big two, Apple and Samsung. It costs €1,319 but you get a top-tier camera system, huge amount of storage, great battery life, superfast charging, clever AI features and a fantastic screen that’s brighter than all the rest. And on top of this, you get that exquisite and unique design. In short, it is one of the best smartphones you can buy. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (priced at €1,469) remains the absolute best handset you can buy, but Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro (priced at €1,274.91) and Honor Magic 6 Pro (priced at €1,319) provide compelling Android alternatives – the former is more suitable for gamers and the latter would be better for photography lovers. However, both OnePlus 12 (at €999) and last year’s Google Pixel 8 Pro at (€875 currently on Amazon) offer stiff competition thanks to their price point.

There’s a lot to like about the Honor Magic 6 Pro. If you’re looking for a high-end smartphone that is well-suited to photography, but, crucially, your budget is somewhat restricted, it’s a fantastic option to go for. For the price, you get a great set of specifications and a well-performing camera across a variety of different subjects. It very easily holds its own against bigger or more familiar names on the market, including Samsung, Apple and Google. There has been some improvement when compared to the Honor Magic 5 Pro, but probably not enough to warrant upgrading imminently, unless you really want to. I’d have liked to have seen some better leaps made with the portrait mode, but otherwise, the main sensor and its accompanying lens, plus the new periscope lens do a good all-round job.

There are changes in this phone that aren't necessary - and sure, you get used to those changes, but the point is they shouldn't have been changed in the first place. The display is good if you're still hankering for curves at the edges, while the speakers will blast out tunes with respectable fidelity. Top that up with really fast charging (if you've got a high-wattage charger) and this is a phone that's certainly worth considering for myriad reasons.

It has certainly upped its game with MagicOS 8.0 with features that are actually useful, despite some of them being a bit gimmicky. The only two major complaints I have with this phone are the same ones that I’ve had with its previous models, which are the unnecessary curved edges on the display and the image processing that goes too far, resulting in some of its outdoor photos being overblown. At RM4,499, the Magic6 Pro is definitely not a cheap device, but as I said in the beginning, this is the best of what the brand has to offer and is in line with the price range of flagships these days when it comes to the cream of the crop.

Is the HONOR Magic6 Pro the phone for you? Well… it’s certainly an interesting phone. As I mentioned several times in the review, I see this phone as a hybrid of iOS and Android, in a way. Throughout my entire usage cycle, I felt that way, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. This is the first slab phone that I thoroughly enjoyed using since I switched to foldables. I don’t even know why, to be quite honest. I still have quite a few complaints about its software, but that combination of Android and iOS aspects really appealed to me, in combination with the phone’s camera performance, battery life, and design. The HONOR Magic6 Pro is a complete package, that’s hard to deny. Its software is noticeably improved compared to last year’s model, and the camera improvements are also easily noticeable. The HONOR Magic6 Pro is a great phone, and if you’re in the market for a flagship-grade device, this one is definitely worth considering.

It achieved excellent results across pretty much all test areas, without showing real weaknesses, and is also a noticeable improvement over its predecessor Magic5 Pro. The Magic 6 Pro is an excellent smartphone. But is it a great smartphone? The hardware is top-notch, but we feel the photography lies a little adrift of the very best. But the overall problem is the price point which is a little too high compared to rivals. It’s a shame, because what is on offer here is a fantastic phone. If O2 do sell it in the UK (the network said it would be stocking Honor devices on stage at its launch) then it will be interesting to see how is priced on contract. If you can get it cheaply on a reasonable deal then you won’t go wrong – this is an excellent Android flagship phone. The Honor Magic 6 Pro is ace, lasts for ages and is quick to take great shots. If you decide to get one on a deal, you’ll have a truly awesome phone on your hands.

There’s more than a little bit of Magic housed within Honor’s flagship smartphone, but its availability and compatibility within the borders of North America are what will hold it back far more than any of my trifles with the device. For the price you’d pay, you’re acquiring a top-of-the-line device touting the kind of components you’d expect from only the biggest names in the US market. That’s paired with a sensationally sleek design that oozes class, and an Android wrapper in MagicOS that, while leaning a little too heavily on its influences, has plenty to offer in terms of unique features and future support. I think Honor has produced a fantastic smartphone here, and I almost feel bad we can’t give it a star rating due to being unable to get it to our lab in time for testing. So, instead of a star rating, hear me loud and clear when I say this, for I’ll only say it once. As an Englishman, the fact I can acquire tech like this almost makes it bearable that I live on the same continent as the French.

The Honor Magic 6 Pro is a viable alternative to Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra, offering comparable – if not better – camera performance than Samsung’s flagship, along with a gorgeous curved design, high-end screen tech with an industry-leading 5000nits peak brightness, excellent performance from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and all-day battery life – and all at a cheaper price point than Samsung’s top-end alternative. It’s not perfect, especially in the software department where I feel that Honor’s MagicOS 8 could do with a few QOL tweaks and less of a focus on being an iOS dupe. It also lacks long-term support, offering 4 OS upgrades and five years of security patches, while the Pixel 8 and Galaxy S24 offer an extended seven years of updates, and its MagicPortal AI tech is a little lacklustre at launch. However, I feel that the vast majority of users could learn to live with Honor’s software quirks when there’s such great hardware on offer.

High-end Honor handsets can easily get overlooked in a crowd of more famed top-tier offerings. But just because their Magic lineup may not be the one you think of first, it doesn't mean you shouldn't seriously consider the Magic6 Pro. It's not perfect, that's for sure. For its cameraphone aspirations, the Honor's video quality is a bit… unreliable. Certain specific circumstances can trip its camera in stills too, but those aren't that bothersome. Similarly, a few minor software peculiarities had us irked along the way. But that's really the magnitude of the 'problems' we had with the Magic6 Pro. These are easily outweighed by the phone's strong points though. The Magic6 PRo's display is truly great, even for the class. The battery life is towards the top of the chart, charging is quicker than at least the Samsung.

A phone like the HONOR Magic 6 Pro is up against some serious competition. The previously mentioned Galaxy S24 Ultra ($1419.99 at Amazon) is a major contender, as is the Pixel 8 Pro ($999 at Amazon). Thankfully, in Europe, the Magic 6 Pro undercuts the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s list price by quite a bit. At €1,299 (~$1,408), it is now a decent alternative to the Ultra. However, that’s still more than the Pixel 8 Pro, which lands at €1,099 (~$1,191). Even so, the periscope zoom on this thing is outrageous, so if that’s a big part of your smartphone needs, this might be worth grabbing for that alone. What do you think? With a DXOMARK Audio score of 155, the Honor Magic6 Pro is among the very best devices tested to date under our Audio protocol, delivering strong results across all playback and recording sub-tests. In playback our experts particularly liked the Magic6 Pro’s performance for timbre, spatial and volume. Attacks were snappy and the sound quite punchy overall. A slight boost in the low end brought more depth, although it could also lead to some resonances or light distortion, which could also deteriorate bass precision. Playback quality was especially good when playing games, but results were also excellent for watching movies and music consumption. In recording tests, the audio zoom feature is excellent and very effective, while wind noise was very well under control.

As far as I’m concerned, the Honor Magic 6 Pro deserves a recommendation based on the battery life alone. As well as being the second-best phone battery life we’ve ever recorded, it offers competitive performance, a gorgeous display, robust cameras and useful features that other flagships don’t, including the high-frequency PWM dimming, TOF 3D sensor and IR blaster. Launching with a sub-£1,000 256GB variant would have broadened the Magic 6 Pro’s appeal, but for what it is, there are still very few drawbacks. If you want class-leading performance and the best zoom shots around, you’ll need to fork out for the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Otherwise, consider saving a couple of hundred quid and picking up Honor’s excellent and feature-rich Magic 6 Pro.

Is the HONOR Magic6 Pro the phone for you? Well… it’s certainly an interesting phone. As I mentioned several times in the review, I see this phone as a hybrid of iOS and Android, in a way. Throughout my entire usage cycle, I felt that way, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. This is the first slab phone that I thoroughly enjoyed using since I switched to foldables. I don’t even know why, to be quite honest. I still have quite a few complaints about its software, but that combination of Android and iOS aspects really appealed to me, in combination with the phone’s camera performance, battery life, and design. The HONOR Magic6 Pro is a complete package, that’s hard to deny. Its software is noticeably improved compared to last year’s model, and the camera improvements are also easily noticeable. The HONOR Magic6 Pro is a great phone, and if you’re in the market for a flagship-grade device, this one is definitely worth considering.

The battery life is great, and the camera system is up there with the big boys, challenging even the S24 Ultra in some scenarios. There's a potent chipset inside, and the AI magic sprinkled on the OS is really helpful, although the functionality is a bit limited at the moment. We can definitely recommend this device if you're willing to try something different. On the flip side, the phone isn't exactly cheap, and you'll need to put in some extra effort to get one (no Magic 6 Pro in the US). But if you're feeling adventurous and you're willing to take this leap of faith, the Honor Magic 6 Pro won't disappoint.

Equipped with a large 5600 mAh battery, the Honor Magic6 Pro, offered more than 3 and a half days of autonomy under moderate usage. The device performed impressively in most individual test cases, including the idle screen-on, video streaming, gaming, and calling. However, idle screen off and music-streaming test cases under Wi-Fi conditions showed weaker performances. The peak wired charging power supported by the Honor Magic6 Pro increased to 80W, allowing the device to be fully charged in 1 hour and 11 minutes. The maximum wireless charging power at 66W was not far behind, providing a full charge in less than 1 hour 20 mins. In our 5-minute quick charge test, the device was able to regain more than 7.5 hours of autonomy, which ranked it at the top half of our database.

Should you buy the Honor Magic 6 RSR? Of course! The only downside to this phone is its price (1,900 euros is a pretty hefty price tag), but given the name and the brand association, this is still the cheapest way to own a Porsche. Jokes aside, there's a lot going on for this phone. The Honor Magic 6 RSR has the brightest screen we've ever tested. The NanoCrystal coating really does its job. On the hardware side, the phone doesn't disappoint, and with 24GB of RAM, you'll be absolutely future-proof. The camera system is at least as good as the one in the regular Magic 6 Pro, which is up there with the big boys, and finally, the battery life and fast charging are amazing. So, if you need a special flagship phone with some added flair and you're willing to pay extra, the Magic 6 RSR is a great choice.

I really like the HONOR Magic6 RSR. There are only two real complaints here for me. One is the price, and the other is the fact it won’t be available in the US. Otherwise, the Magic6 RSR excels at just about everything you throw at it, as it should. It also comes with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, which does help to justify the price, of course. And if you are planning to keep it for a few years, it’ll definitely be worth the price. The Falcon Camera system on the Magic6 RSR is simply incredible and likely will continue to improve too. It really is a shame that the government is trying so hard to keep phones like the HONOR Magic6 RSR out of the US because it’s nearly perfect.

We won't be telling you to run to the store and buy one, since it's anything but a mainstream product and it can hardly justify its price premium over the already pretty solid (and not too affordable) Magic6 Pro. But we do like seeing some new tech every now and then, and we can picture some of the bits of this exclusive version trickling down into more ordinary devices.

I have absolutely loved using the Honor Magic 6 RSR; the cameras are great, the performance is top-notch, the battery life is astounding and the whole package feels extremely high quality. There’s no getting around the fact that it’s wildly expensive, but when you compare it to the 1TB Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, it doesn’t seem so bad. That phone costs £1549 in the UK, and comes with 12GB of RAM, no charger and no case. Comparatively, the RSR has 24GB of RAM, an extremely nice case and two 100W chargers in the box. It doesn’t seem like such a bad deal to me. Of course, you don’t get the same lengthy software support that Samsung offers. Here you get 4 OS upgrades and five years of security patches, to Samsung’s 7. But does anyone shopping in this price range really hold onto their phone for that long? I’m not so sure. The fact is, most people should just opt for the standard Magic 6 Pro, as it’s a better deal and offers 90% of the same experience.

The Honor Magic 6 is the latest flagship smartphone from Honor at the start of 2024. So, Honor includes all the latest components with the highest technological improvements in the smartphone. This included a high-tech display, chipset, battery, and charger. Honor may have created a benchmark when it comes to the highest peak brightness display in a modern smartphone. Well, Honor had to cut some corners in the form of display protection and water and dust resistance. There’s no official IP rating on the smartphone, but it does have some sort of display protection but it’s not as good as Gorilla Glass protection in Samsung flagship smartphones or the Ceramic Shield protection in iPhones. But it also brings super-fast charging capabilities that are not found in those flagship smartphones. So, if water resistance and display protection are a priority for you, then you can go with other smartphones.

Qualcomm Adreno 710: Графический чип для смартфонов и планшетов, интегрированный в SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. По данным Qualcomm, он в 2 раза быстрее, чем старый Adreno 644 в Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности справятся со многими играми, если не гнаться за максимальным разрешением и качеством картинки. Сравнительно умеренное энергопотребление таких GPU обеспечит увеличение времени автономной работы.

Qualcomm Adreno 750: Графический чип для смартфонов и планшетов, интегрированный в SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Qualcomm утверждает, что он на 25% быстрее, чем Adreno 7340 в Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, а первые бенчмарки показывают, что GPU может обойти iGPU Apple A17 Pro.

Qualcomm Snapdragon:

SD 6 Gen 1: SoC среднего класса с 8 ядрами Kryo (4x ARM Cortex A78 с частотой 2,2 ГГц, 4x ARM Cortex A55 с частотой 1,8) и модемом X62 5G (скорость загрузки до 2900 Мбит/с). Чип производится по современному 4-нм техпроцессу.

SD 8 Gen 3: Высокотехнологичная SoC для смартфонов, представленная в конце 2022 года, оснащена быстрым основным ядром на базе архитектуры ARM Cortex-X3 с тактовой частотой до 3,2 ГГц. Еще два производительных ядра основаны на A715 и также поддерживают только 64-битные приложения. Два дополнительных ядра A710 также поддерживают 32-битные приложения, как и энергосберегающие ядра Cortex-A510. Помимо процессорных ядер, в SoC интегрированы модем WiFi 7, DSP Hexagon (для ускорения искусственного интеллекта) и провайдер Spectra ISP. Встроенный контроллер памяти поддерживает быструю память LPDDR5x с частотой до 4 200 МГц. технология 5G включена в чип с модемом Snapdragon X70.
