Тыловая камера в планшете получилась также весьма посредственной. Несмотря на то, что отдельные ее компоненты не так уж плохи, в целом камера с трудом способна получать хорошие снимки. В первую очередь, в глаза бросается проблема с оптикой. Левая часть многих кадров не просто смазана, а достаточно заметно двоится. Не исключено, что по этой же причине у камеры плохо с автофокусировкой. Хотя возможно, с оптикой это и не связано. Даже принудительная установка точки фокусировки не гарантирует резкого снимка. Похвалить можно разве что шумодав — он работает аккуратно и эффективно. А это, в свою очередь, говорит о неплохом сенсоре. Создается впечатление, что при хорошей оптике он мог бы разрешить гораздо больше, чем в данном случае.

It offers console-standard graphics - along with a console-quality controller (albeit at an additional cost) - and a fantastic user experience. Add to this the ability to stream PC games and you've got a slate which will have serious players drooling with excitement; it's just a shame that the controller doesn't come as standard and that there are so few Android games out there that truly push the Shield Tablet to its absolute limits.

While we understand why Nvidia decided to separate the cover and controller to keep the prices down and avoid the Kinect factor, we think a bundled package with a small price break as an alternative would have been nice. All things considered though, consider us surprised. The Shield Tablet is pretty dang cool.

We think NVIDIA has pulled it off. The build quality on the SHIELD tablet is top notch; the device is rigid, it looks great, and it feels good in the hand. I think it speaks volumes that the SHIELD Tablet is the first device I have reviewed where I didn’t think anything belonged in a “Not-so-Good” section. During my time with the unit, I didn’t come across a single gripe or pain point, which seems so rare these days. There is always something that I don’t care for in a device, but the SHIELD Tablet simply delivers exactly what it was made to, with no gimmicks and no bullsh*t.

On the topic of availability, all three components (including the SHIELD Cover, priced at $39), will be available in the US and Canada on July 29th. Europe, which got the shaft when it came to the SHIELD portable (understandably, I suppose – NVIDIA was diving in head-first where releasing its own direct product was concerned), will see availability in mid-August. Finally, we’ll see support for other regions pop up this fall. Overall, I’d say that this is an impressive showing by NVIDIA, and as a big fan of the SHIELD portable, this launch gives me big relief that the series didn’t become a one-off sort of deal. I look forward to seeing the SHIELD Tablet in action.

Europe, which got the shaft when it came to the SHIELD portable (understandably, I suppose – NVIDIA was diving in head-first where releasing its own direct product was concerned), will see availability in mid-August. Finally, we’ll see support for other regions pop up this fall. Overall, I’d say that this is an impressive showing by NVIDIA, and as a big fan of the SHIELD portable, this launch gives me big relief that the series didn’t become a one-off sort of deal. I look forward to seeing the SHIELD Tablet in action.

Да уж, игровой планшет NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet однозначно нельзя назвать банальным или неинтересным, он доказал, что может удивить! Гаджет привлекает внимание с первого взгляда своим внешним видом, а аппаратные компоненты поражают и восхищают своими характеристиками. Явных недостатков в устройстве не найдено, впрочем, немного подкачала яркость дисплея, но не критично. Также, возможно геймеров несколько разочарует батарея, которая разрядится спустя несколько часов после начала игровых баталий.

The Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 is a great midrange slate, and not just for gaming. It delivers powerful performance, a light and unassuming body, and very good battery liffe. Add to that the fact that it can play more games than any other Android tablet, and you have a winner for gamers and non-gamers alike. The Predator 8 gets you better sound quality and haptic feedback, but it costs $100 more and doesn't have access to GeForce Now games. The Galaxy Tab S2 is another good choice, with a sharper screen and multi-window multitasking, but it's even more expensive at $400. That makes the K1 a top pick among midrange tablets, and an Editors' Choice.

We loved the Nvidia Shield when it first arrived, and the price cut only makes us love it more. For £150 there’s very little else out there that’s as powerful or as flexible when it comes to gaming. Losing the stylus and power adaptor to significantly lower the price doesn’t make it any less of a bargain, as we didn’t find the stylus very useful and have plenty of USB cables lying around. The design, while tweaked, can’t compete with the Asus ZenPad S, and many will prefer Google’s Nexus 9 for its 4:3 aspect ratio display, but you’ll have to spend significantly more to get anything better. It retains its Best Buy award.

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности практически не подходят дли игр, но справятся с самыми простыми делами, вроде отображения 2D-материала на экране умеренного разрешения.

NVIDIA GeForce Tegra 4: Графическое ядро, интегрированное в процессор Tegra 4, имеет 48 пиксельных и 24 вертексных шейдера заместо унифицированных вычислительных ядер.

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности справятся лишь с самыми простыми играми, больше подходя для простых дел - просмотра видео в Сети и обработки документов. Плюсом можно считать скромный нагрев и расход энергии.

NVIDIA GeForce ULP K1 (Tegra K1 Kepler GPU): Производительный и основанный на архитектуре Kepler графический ускоритель, созданный для аппаратной платформы Nvidia Tegra K1, который использует 192 унифицированных шейдерных процессора CUDA.
