На тестировании смартфон Huawei P40 пробыл у нас три недели. За это время он ни разу не подвёл, работал стабильно. Аппарат имеет весьма компактные размеры, отличную сборку. Он показал хорошую автономность. При стандартной нагрузке его приходилось заряжать раз в два дня. Также стоит отметить яркий и качественный дисплей. Благодаря большой диагонали и OLED-матрице просмотр фильмов, клипов, графики комфортен. Не хватает, разве что, объёмного стереозвучания. В аппаратном плане также порядок. Телефон не зависает и работает очень шустро. Запросто запускаются производительные мобильные игры на высоких настройках графики. Оперативной памяти достаточно, процессор мощный. Присутствует поддержка LTE, можно использовать сразу две сим-карты разных операторов. Качество мобильной связи отличное.

The P40 achieves a Video score of 98, thanks to generally accurate exposure indoors and out. Detail is high and noise is well controlled in bright light, though dynamic range is quite limited. The P40 has some issues with color in its videos, with our testers noticing problematic casts and color rendering in some scenes. Stabilization is not particularly effective, with a fair amount of residual motion visible in videos, along with some jello effect. In very low light, noise becomes intrusive, and white balance and autofocus can be inconsistent.

Being the primary driver of my day to day work and playing multiple roles, such as the main communicator, camera and entertainment provider, the Huawei P40 fitted seamlessly into my daily life. I had a wonderful experience with the P40, but I must say that it takes time to get used to working without Google Play Services. But once you are over it and used to the new workflow, the Huawei P40 really shines.

It’s been a year now since Huawei had launched its successful P30 series smartphones, and a lot has happened since then. Following a trade-war between the United States and China, Huawei ended up being sanctioned, with the most notable effect being that the company no longer has access to Google’s services. Last autumn, we saw the launch of the Mate 30 series, the company’s first flagship phone to ship without GMS. We had argued that those phones lacked sufficient hardware differentiation to be able to make up for the lack of Google’s services, and it would be some time before we would see Huawei’s own HMS (Huawei Mobile Services) mature to a state that represents it being a valid every-day alternative. That goal is inching ever closer as Huawei spends large resources and efforts to get developers onboard its own ecosystem.
