Dell's G Series notebook is an emphatic step toward the future that maintains a few good lessons from the past. Visually, the G7 15 is cut from a different cloth than either the Inspiron or the Alienware brands, giving the laptop an identity of its own. For $1,049, the laptop offers solid overall performance for all your multitasking needs. But more importantly, thanks to its Max-Q GTX 1060, budget-conscious gamers can get good frame rates on graphically taxing games. I just wish the screen were more colorful and the keyboard more comfortable.

Dell touts its G7 series of laptops as a “complete sensory experience” for the gamer on a budget. Launched earlier this year, the line’s $1,180 starting price is an attractive number for those seeking the powerful portable gaming experience Dell promises. That price also puts it in direct competition with Acer’s Predator Helios 300, which landed on PC Gamer’s best gaming laptop list. After spending some time with the G7 15, however, I can say that it provides some of the best performance and value in the budget gaming class of laptops, and stands toe-to-toe with Acer’s offering.

Gamers looking for the highest frame rates possible will find better value in a quad-core laptop with a beefier GPU, while those in search of a thinner and lighter hex-core gaming laptop should check out the pricey MSI GS65 Stealth Thin 8RE. But if you’re on a budget and want enough CPU power to stream or create videos while gaming, the G7 15 is (for now, at least) an enticing, reasonably priced choice.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Max-Q: Энергоэффективная видеокарта для тонких и легких ноутбуков, основанная на том же чипе GP106, что и полноценная ноутбучная GTX 1060, но работает на сниженных частотах. Производительность примерно на 15% ниже, но энергопотребление ниже значительно.

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности справятся со многими играми, если не гнаться за максимальным разрешением и качеством картинки. Сравнительно умеренное энергопотребление таких GPU обеспечит увеличение времени автономной работы.

i7-8750H: Новый процессор семейства Coffee Lake создан для мощных габаритных ноутбуков. Он включает в себя 6 процессорных ядер, которые могут работать на частотах от 2.2 до 4.1 ГГц, при этом максимальная частота 4 активных ядер составляет 4 ГГц, а 6 ядер - 3.9 ГГц. Процессор создан по улучшенному 14-нанометровому техпроцессу (14 нм++) и поддерживает многопоточность.
