The Oppo Find X6 display showed its strongest performance in color, with an overall improvement over its predecessor the Find X5. Colors were rendered well when viewing photos in indoor conditions. However, when viewing the device at an angle, the screen color would shift to green. The display’s readability score was lower than its predecessor’s as well as the Find X5 Pro’s score. Although the smartphone lacked readability in sunlight, the decreased readability was particularly noticeable in the dark, where brightness registered a very low 2 nits. The Oppo Find X6’s HDR 10 video experience outscored the Find X6 Pro. The device showed better and more details in the dark-tone rendering during the perceptual tests than the Pro version. However, the screen lacked some brightness and details when viewing HDR10 videos. Playing video games on the Find X6 was a mixed experience. The device showed no frame drops, but the screen seemed to lack smoothness when playing.

In the DXOMARK Audio test, our experts found the Oppo Find X6 to be a good device for both audio playback and recording. Overall performance was very similar to the Find X6 Pro. Results were slightly better when recording sound, and slightly lower in playback. As a playback device, the Find X6 performed best when watching movies and playing games, but results were almost on the same level for listening to music content. Recordings were best with the main camera and memo app, but front-camera results were not far off. The device offered a pleasant sonority and loud sound, both when playing back audio through the built-in speakers and when recording audio. However, our experts also found the device to sound slightly dull in playback as well as recording. They also noticed bass distortion with the built-in speakers.

Overall, the device delivered a very balanced performance, doing well across all test attributes. Even with a smaller sensor in the primary module than the Pro model and other flagship devices, the Find X6 managed an excellent texture/noise trade-off in both photo and video. Here's hoping the global launch happens soon, so the UK is graced with this lovely pair. That was just one of many phone events this week, with Xiaomi also unveiling its fresh Redmi Note 12 series of phones. The Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus 5G is the most premium model, boasting a 200MP camera, slick performance, 120W battery charging - it's more flagship than the Oppo Find X6 Pro in some regards, although not as nippy. Huawei was another one to launch their latest shiny smartphones in China, again no word on a UK release just yet. Here's hoping that both the Oppo Find X6 Pro and the Huawei P60 series make it over here in 2023.
