Official: Xiaomi shares cryptic teaser amid rumours of Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro global release
Earlier today, Xiaomi announced its Xiaomi 17 international launch event. Scheduled for February 28, the event is expected to showcase not just the Xiaomi 17, but also the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and the latter's Leica Edition sibling. For reference, Xiaomi is expected to release the Leica Edition outside China as the Leica Leitzphone.
Globally, Xiaomi has only hinted at releasing new flagship smartphones. Over on its Indian X page though, the company has also teased the imminent launch of something altogether different. Whether this also forms part of Xiaomi's global launch event remains unclear at this point.
As the embedded tweet below shows, Xiaomi claims that it is preparing to unveil the 'future of computing'. With the company adding that it has already 'redefined the tablet category', followers of the Xiaomi India account have inferred that a new laptop could be on the horizon.
However, the keys visible are a match for the keyboard accessory that Xiaomi sells for its Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro tablets. The timing of the tweet correlates with recent leaks confirming that a global release for the pair, too. Hence, it seems likely that Xiaomi is teasing the release of successors to the Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro (curr. $474.50 on Amazon) rather than a new laptop.
