It’s quite noisy in use, lacks the everyday zip provided by a good SSD and the battery life makes the portability of the slimmer, lighter frame a bit, well, pointless. Perhaps we’re just missing the crowd for whom this is the perfect set of highs and lows, but we’re not sure the UK-spec MSI Prestige PX60 2QD has its priorities entirely in order.

Well. The new MSI Prestige PX60 is aimed at a very specific and narrow audience – people who are looking for a more stylish or “prestigious” gaming/multimedia laptop with higher quality features but also slimmer and more light weight. The PX60 delivers that with some good features like good 3D performance (GTX 950M GDDR5, Broadwell I7), good 1080p IPS display, 16GB RAM, not bad 4.0 speakers, relatively good keyboard and lower weight and frame size.

The PX60 looks decent and has huge processing power, but that Core i7 chip creates problems when it comes to noise and cooling, and the rest of the specification is matched or bettered elsewhere. Most people just won’t need the processor’s grunt, and better-balanced machines handle work and play with similar aplomb. It’s only worth choosing the PX60 if you need its mighty CPU.
