Можно сказать, что создатели Huawei MateBook D 15 (2021) использовали далеко не все возможности увеличить привлекательность новой модели, которые были в их распоряжении. С аппаратной платформой у ноутбука все более-менее в порядке: процессора Intel Core i5-1135G7 вкупе с 16 ГБ оперативной памяти и 512 ГБ SSD сегодня хватит для большинства бытовых задач, не считая игр. Да и экран у него неплохой. Из недостатков же мы в первую очередь выделим невозможность установки второго накопителя, клавиатуру без цифрового блока с уменьшенными стрелками и без подсветки, скромную по качеству веб-камеру с нижним расположением и без регулировки угла наклона, три порта стандарта USB 2.0 и только один USB 3.2 Gen1, отсутствие картовода и довольно простенькую по звучанию акустику.

Huawei MateBook D 15 удался и лицом (дизайн, экран), и душой (производительность). Можно найти ноутбуки дешевле, можно мощнее, но в поисках сбалансированной модели по приемлемой цене придется долго копаться в «серых» магазинах или на вторичном рынке. При этом все равно есть риск нарваться на свист дросселей, тусклый дисплей, троттлинг и прочие скрытые неприятности.

All in all, the Huawei Matebook D 15 is an all-around decent laptop but not worth the price it carries in Nepal. Another issue is the sparse availability and aftermarket service. It will be considerably difficult to find parts for Huawei laptops compared to ones from established players like Dell and Asus. The closest competition to the Huawei Matebook D15 is another Macbook-like laptop, the Mi Notebook Pro. It costs exactly the same but blows the D15 out of the water. First and foremost, the 2.5K display on the Notebook Pro has much better color reproduction as well as a 16:10 aspect ratio. Secondly, it is powered by an 11th-gen H-series processor, which is a mild improvement compared to the G7 on the Matebook D15. Finally, the conventional camera placement also makes it ideal for video conferences. Almost forgot; it also supports Thunderbolt 4. The Huawei Matebook D15 would have been feasible if the price aligned with its global pricing. But for now, it is just another Windows laptop in a Mac-like shell that cannot keep up with what other companies offer in this range.

The Intel version of the Huawei MateBook D 15 is a good budget offer. The laptop has a good-looking sleek design, it has a thin profile and it’s light at the same time. So, portability is one of its key selling points. You don’t have to worry when you are away from the charger – the small battery unit can last for 10 hours of Web browsing which is a great score for this 42Wh unit (actually, even better compared to the AMD sibling). In addition, the notebook has a compact USB-C charger which is great – if you have bigger pockets it’ll fit there with ease. The Intel Core i5-1135G7 (which is one of the available CPU variants) and its iGPU are good enough for some light games as well – CS:GO and Dota 2 can run just fine on (at least) Low settings.

Huawei’s newly refreshed MateBook 15 2021 is a mixed bag. It has many of the same things that made the previous generation great, but the switch to Intel’s 11th generation chips feels like a lateral move, especially considering Huawei’s other offerings in the same space. The MateBook 14 (2020) for example, offers a better-performing CPU that delivers slightly worse GPU performance but better metrics across the board, including double the battery life. Sure you’re getting a slightly smaller display, but the 14-inch panel is sharper and is more color-accurate. It’s also a few thousand pesos cheaper than the MateBook D15 2021, making it a better buy all-around.
