Still, that one issue isn’t enough of a reason to not recommend the XPS 15. It continues to be one of the best 15.6-inch laptops on the market today. Dell has kept the performance intact as they shrunk the chassis, unlike many of the other 15.6-inch models from the competition. The aluminum and carbon fibre look is stunning, and other than the less than ideal location of the webcam, Dell’s design wins far more than it loses. If you’re looking for a larger notebook than an Ultrabook, you’d be doing a disservice to yourself to not at least check out the XPS 15.

The Dell XPS 15 is a fantastic laptop. Sure it has a premium price tag, but it also has premium features with a jaw-dropping 4K display, strong performance, and a well built portable design. One of the strongest selling points of this device is its versatility. It’s portable enough to be a travel laptop, with solid battery life. It’s also powerful enough to be a great workhouse, with the ability to multitask and load files almost instantly. Not to mention the dedicated GPU makes it a great option for games and media to boot. Truthfully the only downside is that the key travel is a bit limited, but that doesn’t mar the incredible package this laptop offers.

Is it fast enough that you'll run out and replace the XPS 15 you have? No, but we don’t think Dell expected you to do that anyway. This XPS 15 is aimed at someone who wants a fairly compact powerhouse without back-breaking weight and size. Our only real ding is the average battery life from our test unit (your mileage may vary depending on configuration and use). For today, though, the XPS 15 is still clearly one of the top dogs of the 15.6-inch laptop pack.

The Dell XPS 15 Touch should be at the top of your list if you're setting up a graphics or video editing studio, or are a well-funded art student. It has the power to complete multimedia projects quickly and features a brilliant screen that shows many more colors than a business-oriented laptop could muster. The only downside is the shortish battery life. Still, it's faster, and costs $700 less than the Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch, and has all the requisite ports, while the MacBook Pro needs adapters for all connections except USB-C and Thunderbolt 3.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Mobile: Мобильная видеокарта среднего уровня на базе архитектуры Nvidia Pascal. Пришла на замену GeForce GTX 960M. Изготавливается на 14 нм производстве компании Samsung и почти не отличается от своего настольного варианта. 

Графические процессоры этой категории производительности справятся со многими играми, если не гнаться за максимальным разрешением и качеством картинки. Сравнительно умеренное энергопотребление таких GPU обеспечит увеличение времени автономной работы.

i7-7700HQ: Четырехъядерный мобильный процессор из семейства Kaby Lake. Кроме процессорных ядер с поддержкой Hyperthreading имеет также встроенную видеокарту HD Graphics 630. Производится по 14 нм техпроцессу.
