Преимущественно, модели этого молодого бренда ассоциировались с продуктами, чье ценообразование и входной порог несколько скромнее. Однако, исполнение экстерьера и очень хорошая техническая начинка, включая камеру и экран, позволяют говорить о том, что эта стоимость вполне оправдана. По сути, Honor 8 — это такой настоящий боевой флагман бренда с передовыми фишками материнской компании и самобытным подходом. Работу камер можно считать вполне достойной, хотя искусственно зарезанные программные навыки при сохранении интересного инженерного решения немного огорчают. Мощности смартфону хватит с запасом на годик-другой, так что вполне можете заселять смартфон в свои карманы. Хотя бы за этот глубокий синий цвет. Да, тряпочку тоже надо будет носить с собой и периодически восьмёрку полировать, но… Красота требует жертв.

With an improved camera and much better design, it looks like a premium handset you’d be proud to show off… even if can’t stay still on a flat surface. Our only real peeve lies with the Emotion UI, which still feels like a cheap Apple imitation at best. The OnePlus 3 is really the only handset that trumps the Honor 8 in this price range when it comes to value-for-money, which is surely testament to what you’re getting. It’s not perfect (I’ve yet to see a phone that is), but it shows a level of polish that other phones at this price and below lack. In a way, the Honor 8 is sort of a sleeper. By now I may have already answered most of your queries. The Huawei Honor 8 indeed appears to stand up to the OnePlus 3 and packs in something different in the form of a dual camera setup and outstanding build quality. Unfortunately it does not stand up to the OnePlus 3 which offers better value, better camera quality and better battery life. It also does not come with Dash Charge, a brawny Snapdragon 820 chipset, 6GB RAM and it also does not seem to support LTE bands in India.

We will soon have Pixel phones in-house, and to wrap-up my time with the Honor 8, I can honestly say that I have enjoyed using the phone. At AED 1,599 the Honor 8 sits squarely against the likes of similarly-priced phones such as the OnePlus 3, but its great design and decent set of features make it a good phone to recommend. I wasn't particularly impressed with EMUI but you can always change the launcher. Overall, the Honor 8 is a highly affordable and well-performing smartphone that looks fantastic and is easy to recommend.

So that's that then - Huawei may be trying to run Honor as a separate brand in some regions, but the Chinese company's design philosophy is clearly visible in the 8. A flashier P9 without the Leica branding we can certainly live with. Knowing you save €150 over the original model makes it a very attractive offer. And there weren't any major corners cut either - outside of the missing film modes and the more limited use of the monochrome sensor the Honor 8 didn't really feel inferior in any way. The glass design might be a bit too flashy for some, but others will certainly prefer it over the metal of the P9.

So far, I’m impressed. There have been a few little hiccups like some struggles scrolling through long lists but that might be chalked up to the phone breaking in. I’m trying to keep in mind that this is a $400 phone but it feels like it’s punching above its weight. If it had amazing battery life, it might have been an easier pull to swallow, but as it is, this doesn't do enough to earn the top spot.

Before even approaching the pricing of the Honor 8, this is a really great phone. Externally, it's slick and can grab eyes with a few subtle design features while also feeling solid and built with high tolerances. The metal and glass protect really great internal specs that can power the phone through all of your regular tasks, with a battery that lasts all day (and then some), and you can view it all on a really top-end display. The camera, while coming up short of amazing, is great in many situations and leverages its dual sensors for neat effects and better image quality.
